Play calling lacks imagination and purpose! Defense is far ahead of our offense. Embarrassing OL play.

He's an incredible man, great Christian, and the type of person I want representing Liberty. I just don't think he's a good enough coach for the position.

Thetbreplaced the starting right tackle with someone who should truly be playing guard
The same thing has still happened just less frequent
I would have started with practicing false starts.

This will be another long year. QBs are not ready. OL is not ready. Coaches are not ready.

Count me as one who would not be shocked at a coaching change on the horizon. Too much being invested in facilities for the team to look so unprepared.

I love how after 1 game some of y'all are already calling for Gill's head. Think about how absurd that sounds. Yes, our offensive line looked out of focus, but remember Gill cannot make the plays for them. Also, look at how well the defense played as a whole. The tackling was the best by a Liberty Unit in years!!!! The defensive line was wrecking more havoc than I expected. The offensive line blocked well for the run. Y'all are ludicrous to make a judgment call on the season after 1 game!!!

Let's pump the breaks on making an end all statement on how the offense will look throughout the season. The running game actually looks better with Moseley and Macon. They are more north south runners which helps with less negative yardage plays. I will say this Tech defense impressed me, more fundamentally sound than last year.

Lastly, Calvert one day will be good. But so glad Masha came back in. Calvert IS NOT READY!!!

Way too much being made of the results of this game While we don't know for sure how good the Hokies are yet, I think it's safe to say our offense won't face that kind of athletes again this year The real world season of opponents on our level begins next week If we don't look a LOT better then, I will start to take the doom and gloomers a bit more seriously I am disappointed with some things, but we beat the spread and as far as I know, didn't have any serious injuries On to face Jacksonville at the Bill

I knew we would lose. It was the lack of discipline that concerned me multiple offensive false starts. The offense as a whole didn't look ready. The same issues that plagued this team all season long last season.

But you guys are right it is only one game it is just hard not to get worried when you see the same things pop up.

The sequence - I think late in 3rd - where LU was sacked, got a delay of game that moved it out of FG range, and THEN had to burn a TO before getting another DOG. That's the kind of thing coaches CAN control.

A lot of you like to say, "Coach can't go make plays for them." It's true. That's why random occurrences are less relevant than PATTERNS. Once negative PATTERNS emerge in any intercollegiate athletic program, there is cause for concern.

Coaches must be able to control the controllables. That series was one of a few occurrences where it didn't appear today's staff was able to do that.

I like TG, and I love my alma mater. Hope it all gets turned around.

PS - only a couple plays, but Calvert showed promise. I'm hearing he could become best QB in school history. Off the charts talent. And the fact a true freshie got plays in a third quarter series of a season opener when down 20....this staff is definitely planning on using him!

He has an 'It' presence to him. Granted it was a small sample size but there was something there. The Tech fans around me noticed it. And that was on one series that ended in an Int

This is the reason I've been skeptical. We have gotten some results at times, but the patterns we've seen on the field and some of the off-field patterns I've been told about are what have made me doubt that he's the guy to lead us to where we want to go. We will rarely be bad under him, but we won't be the top 20 program consistently that we want to be.

Things may have changed since Ron Brown became Associate Head Coach, but I was told multiple times the first few years that Coach Gill isn't a very organized leader. There wasn't a very cohesive, organized plan from the top. Again, things may have changed, but I heard those patterns from multiple people while on campus in 2014.

I saw enough yesterday to lead me to believe we can win the next 10 games. We were playing a good team and did not get blown out. I have seen far worst games against inferior BSC schools. VT had best defense LU has ever played against.

Yeah LU very easily could have been scoreless and Tech could very easily had an extra 14 points.
BUT I don't see winning the Big South as unreasonable

CSU loss their starting QB for the year and their backup went out yesterday too.

KSU lost to ETSU so they may not be as ready as we assumed they'd be.

Our overall talent is well above the rest of the league. If we can get the coaching, the league title and auto-bid should be well within reach.
