I think Manson did this last year on LFN, but I thought it'd be fun to do it on here.

Name three things we did good vs VT.
Name three things we did bad vs VT.

The rules are you have to have three of each, no more no less.

The three bad are easy:

1. Penalties
2. Lack of mental focus on offensive line
3. Turnovers

The three good were:

1. The defense as a whole, the 36 points do not bring justice to how well they played!
2. Trey Turner is one of the best punters in College Football
3. Carrington Moseley and Todd Macon are legit

The bad first:
-False Starts- this needs to be a priority in practice this week or the rest of our opponents are shifting the D-line for the rest of the season.
-Masha had confidence after the Calvert series. Most of his bad throws was due to him trying to make a play every down. Throw the ball away or take a sack. Both Calvert and Masha didn't look comfortable staying in the pocket and the OL actually did a great job of giving them sometime this afternoon
-play calling- no more 5 yard slant passes for Masha. The passes were in the right target 90% of the time but it seemed like they were all forced even when the coverage was tight. We have great receivers-we didn't utilize that strength today.

The good:
-defense: played very well today. VT may have the best receivers in the country- with Ford and 6'7 guy. Turner got the MVP today IMO. Ford had to push off a lot today to get half of his catches.

-Short yardage offense- watching the 4th and 1 on our own 30 in the 1st half and Macons TD gave me confidence that this will be a strong area for us this year. The OL when not making false starts actually did well against the VT.
-I think we did alright figuring we played against a good team. Hard to judge players in that setting. We need to do better in penalties and game management. Looked like issues in the subbing today as well

Bad

1) king should have been nowhere near the ball on that safety (def agree with Jon on that)
2) Masha looked like he had not taken a game snap in about two years

Good
1) Mosley finally showing some signs he can be a good back
2) Chris Turner...

Good:

Defense - they played really well. They were out athleted at times but they flew to the ball and made plays.

Running backs - they made some plays, especially in short yardage, when needed.

Punting - we flipped the field a few times and had the fumble recovery.

Bad:

Offensive line: waaaaay too many false starts.

Quarterback play: waaaaaaay too many bad passes.

Special teams overall: missed extra point, delay of game, too many men on the field, and almost another delay of game, safety on a punt return. Can't give away yards and points in special teams.

One thing I forgot to mention was of the 16 years of following LU football, that was the best tackling display on defense and punt coverage that I've ever seen

I know...I had to hurry so I could plug my phone in

Good
3) the defense as a whole

Bad
3) Masha. He played like someone who had not taken a game snap in two years at times

The bad:

Offensive line false starts (8 of them I believe)
Pass routes
Interceptions (but 1, maybe 2 were good plays by VT)

The good:

Defense
punting (though we punted too much)
Going for it on 4th down

All in all LU played better than most though they would . VT did not have any 70-80 yard big plays. We made them earn their yardage. VT is by far the toughest team on schedule. We should take a lot from this game and roll thru remainder of schedule.

Because their QB has about as much touch as LU's QB
