A friend showed me some videos of this kid and I have to say that I'm pretty impressed. Not sure size wise how he fits in, but he's only a freshman.

This link has several highlight videos on him.

This looks like something a local news station did. Shows him putting bible verses on his back plates.

Since it's signing day, I thought I'd post an update on Cade.

According to Scout.com, he's received offers from UNC, NC State and Wake Forest. He also has received interest from Clemson, Duke and ECU.

Scout has him listed as a RB, but I think he's more of an ATH.

If we could get in with this kid, that would be a solid pickup in a couple of years.

We always have a need for a player good enough to have multiple FBS offers after his sophomore year of HS.

If I was a college coach I have three questions that I would ask myself if I was thinking about pursuing a player when they film comes across my desk (or in my email):

1) Does he fill a position of need:
Is it a position that we are going to need filled with this incoming class. To answer that question I have to look at the roster and take a look at the graduating class for that year, which is the juniors in this case, and this actually happens to be the last class that Danny Rocco recruited (and Turner Gill's first class technically because he came in a couple weeks before signing day). There are 16 players (technically 17 including the fellow that transferred in from WVU this semester) that would be graduating including one RB.

2) Does he fit philosophically (on the field):
Now I dont know what kind of offense they run at Davie County but when looking at a possible recruit, I would ask myself how would he fit into the style of the offense that I run and would it take a significant amount of adjustment for them to fit.

3) Does he fit philosphically (off the field):
Does he fit the philosophy and mission of the school and would he be a good example not only within the school but in the community as well.

It wont be about whether or not they have received multiple FBS offers first and foremost, it will be about answering those three questions. Now, how TG and the staff handle him is obviously going to be different, that is just how I would address it.

I was simply expressing my philosophy of recruiting before getting into any evaluation of him overall. Based on my three questions here is how I look at him:

1) Does he fill a position of need? Looking at the roster our running backs going into the 2016 season would be Todd Macon, Carrington Mosley, Kendall Couamin, Josh Smith and Buddy Edwards (the young man signed today). Now, not knowing his height and weight specs, I don't know where he would factor in but looking at his film, he does have good wheels in the open field and decent tackle breaking ability. RB is not a glaring need but if he is an obvious upgrade over even some the players listed (jury is out since three of them redshirted in 2013, one barely played and the other just sent in his NLI today), then he is someone I wouldnt mind seeing getting an offer.

(For the record this is only looking at those already on or soon to be put on the roster, this does not factor in whatever happens come Signing Day 2015)

2) Does he fit philosophically (on the field)? Looking at the video, it looks like they run a lot of read option from the shotgun formation so the level of adjustment should not be overly significant so he should fit in the offense. Would he play right away...I wouldnt guarantee it but the possibility certianly is there

3) Does he fit philosophically (off the field)? If the second video is any indication he would fit well on the mountain and looks like someone who would make a positive impact on the community

Fair enough...though if they get in trouble off the field they really cant change games all that much (not saying this kid is trouble off the field, just saying that in general you have to make sure that even if a player is talented, that they fit the overall culture as well).

SJ is right. You don't pass on talent. You build everything around it.

That may be what you would want to do, but that doesn't happen always happen and it doesn't happen around here, that much I KNOW. It depends on what the coaches want, or feel they need, and if it doesn't work out its on to the next, like a new pair of underwear
