We move to the position previews as we put spring football in the rear view mirror, starting with the guys under center:

Players Lost
Javan Shashaty

This was a somewhat unexpected move, with Shashaty looking at battling Stephon Masha (more on him in a minute) as well as JT Bradwell for the backup QB spot heading into spring ball. He decided to go a different route, and is focusing on academics, as well as getting married next month (congratulations to him and his bride to be)

Players Returning
Josh Woodrum 210-339 2947 Yds 19 TDs 10 INT 2014 Big South All-Conference Second Team
Stephon Masha 42-66 546 Yds 5 TD 4 INT
JT Bradwell No 2014 Stats (Redshirt)
Bo Swanson No 2014 Stats

With Shashaty gone, and Bradwell getting suspended for the spring (Manson, any more explanation as to what happened there?), the backup QB job is Masha's. The 2014 backup who led the Flames in the final two games (a loss to CSU and a win over CCU) will be the #2 heading into the summer and into training camp in August, with Bradwell probably serving as #3 unless he returns for training camp and absolultely blows the coaching staff away. Masha will be touching the ball quite a bit as the staff makes use of his skill set not only as the QB, but also at WR, and on some running plays as well. Swanson will only see game time with significant injuries to the three guys in front of him, but serve as an important asset in practice.

With no QBs coming in this fall (barring any summer transfers), it will be contingent that Masha and Bradwell stay healthy and we not have a situation as was the case at FBS Maryland in 2012 when they went down to their 5th string QB.

Any thoughts Manson or BYD since LFN got to see them live?

You really need to do your research BJ. Not only did you apparently overlook Bradwell missing Spring practice due to suspension, but you got it all wrong on Shashaty. He would not have been in the mix for backup QB. Masha clearly beat him out for that role last year, and solidified it by leading us to victory over CCU. Shashaty's duties this year would have been exclusively as Lunsford's holder. BTW, that is important, and I'm not exactly excited that apparently punter Trey Turner will be the new holder. Bradwell is very talented, and if he has addressed the issues which led to his suspension, he will get a chance to compete with Masha for the backup role.

Thanks for the info. I had forgotten that Bradwell was suspended for the spring. Hopefully he got all that straightened out and is back for summer workouts and training camp in August
