Good receiving techniques are taught and improved by good coaches; it is not instinctual. When our coaches bring in players to the program (no matter how good they are), it is their responsibility to teach them and minimize their deficiencies for the betterment of the team/program. The players have to work hard and do their part. Nevertheless, you can catch footballs on a jugs machine all day long, but if you don't know what you are doing it won't do anyone any good.
The players aren't deciding what plays are called, who is in the game, etc. If the coaches know that we have these weaknesses (if they don't know, then we have even more problems), why do we keep repeating them and setting ourselves up for failure? Our problems can be corrected. But the same issues that existed before the season began have occurred repeatedly in critical game situations and there are very few signs that things are going to change for the better.
