That's sorta my point. The only passes we consistently can catch are those screen passes. Imagine if our receivers made catches like ISU WR'S did yesterday. Do you think we would have still made all of those screen calls? Heck, what if we caught some of those easy drops? Same thing.
The blame i place on the coaching staff is not recruiting kids who can actually catch. Or at the very least make receivers catch balls in practice until their hands get used to it!

you're actually right on that one PH...catching the ball is pretty much something you cover in fundamentals of football or something. I worked with kids in the TRBC flag football league who had a better grasp of that than what I have seen from our receivers this season. I think Dakota had a catch yesterday that you could put on an instructional video

Good receiving techniques are taught and improved by good coaches; it is not instinctual. When our coaches bring in players to the program (no matter how good they are), it is their responsibility to teach them and minimize their deficiencies for the betterment of the team/program. The players have to work hard and do their part. Nevertheless, you can catch footballs on a jugs machine all day long, but if you don't know what you are doing it won't do anyone any good.

The players aren't deciding what plays are called, who is in the game, etc. If the coaches know that we have these weaknesses (if they don't know, then we have even more problems), why do we keep repeating them and setting ourselves up for failure? Our problems can be corrected. But the same issues that existed before the season began have occurred repeatedly in critical game situations and there are very few signs that things are going to change for the better.

Agree too much body catching from ALL the WR's. What I see is they catch with their hands at the wrong time, as well as when they decide to catch with there bodies. Ive seen it yelled and coached about hands, but players revert to what they know in games for some reason.

Hands in space
Body to protect from a blow

It looks sorta like a hybrid Fusion of the Jaguars/Raiders/Dale Layers Offense. Only thing we do that's close to Oregon's style is at half time we still use a locker room and our mascot is a bird.
