First, if the freshmen thought it was too cold to stay outside on Saturday night, I'm a bit worried about the physical toughness of our future generations.

Second, for Brevard, the crowd wasn't bad. While they were there, the student side was great. The baptist side wasn't as enthusiastic as usual, but it could be that my family and I just sat in a different section than we are used to.

The band's halftime show was "meh." It was too mellow and quiet for me. When I take my kids to the game, the last thing I want to happen is for them to fall asleep too early. We ended up leaving at the half because we needed to get the kids in bed but, had it been a game we were worried about, we would have stayed longer.

But, let's be honest, this happens in all sports with teams of all levels. I've been to sporting events of championship teams and when they are playing a less that popular club and are beating them handily, people leave early. I don't think this is unique to Liberty.

As far as the defense. I haven't lost hope. Brevard's offense happens to be one we won't likely see in any of our real competitive games. With that, as long as they're focused, I think we should have a good shot of continuing to make a lot of big stops.

Score was 56-31, not 56-32.

The announced attendance was 15,000+. I think it was more than that in stadium.

Many schools have trouble with fans leaving at halftime. I read recently that Alabama even has a problem with students leaving.

I think LU should eliminate 7 oclock games and play more 1 or 2 o'clock games. The games run too long when starting at 7. It's almost 1030 when finished. I thought Brevard game would be a fast game with them running ball and LU scoring quickly. But it took as long as if both teams had passed 50 times each. TV timeouts are slowly ruining college football. The girl in red hat stays on field more than the QB.

I think most college kids are up past 10:30 on Saturday night, ballcoach. Plus, a 1:00 or 2:00 game would cut into my tailgating time.

Any truth to the urban legend that LU tries to schedule home games at times that don't conflict with UVa and Tech games? That way, people like Smoothie can attend both! Or I can watch UVa on TV and then head to the LU game afterwards.

I think we could work with having 2 1 pm games, 2 330 pm games and 2 7 pm games. With only 5 home games next season, I'd have Montana at 7, Coastal at 330 (with an option to flex it to 7 if it ends up being for the championship and autobid), Presby at 1, Kennesaw State at 330 and whoever our mystery home game (for sake of argument let's go with Sacred Heart) at 7

That was the only downside to a 7 pm start. I wouldnt get back to my room until 11 or 1130 after getting something to eat. That's why I think it should be for big games (and occasionally homecoming)

The earlier in the day, the less student attendance. Its a verified fact in the athletic department.

They would do all of them at 7:00pm were it not for the cold temps.

The first part made me sad.

The second part explained the first part.

Totally get that. And when I was a student, and when the stadium capacity was 50/50 for both sides, I would've totally agreed.

At what point, as we continue to grow and become a more national school, do we shift to making it a better experience for alumni and out of town people? With the online school as large as it is, and the fan base growing into border states, we have to be closing in on that point, correct?

No, No, No.

7PM games are the best for me. I live about an hour away. Often we have things on Saturdays. Like on 10/4/14 we're having a blood drive at church. It will end at 2PM. It's easy for me to get everything wrapped up and make a 7PM game. 1 PM and I'd be all messed up. 3PM and I'd still miss the pregame meal.

7PM is the best. I also think games are more exciting under the lights.

My crew of 13 left at half time because most of us had to be at setup at 6:30 the next morning for church. If it was a different opponent, We would have stayed ( like what will probably happen vs Bryant). I am glad they got the W but I still feel uneasy about the freedom Brevard had moving the ball on the D.

I thought the same thing. I took a good look around and thought for sure we were around 17k. I was really impressed with the turnout considering the weather in the AM (when most people make their daily plans) and VT and UVA at home and playing a D2 school. If you consider all of those elements you really have to be pleased with the result.

Regarding attendance in general. I've read that we're about to break a record for season ticket sales and if Homecoming is any indication that would make sense. We crushed our HC registration record last year and this year we're up over 20% so I fully anticipate topping it again.
