Talked to my landlord last night (he also works at the Welcome Center) and there is a linebacker from Florida State coming to check out the campus and possibly consider transferring here for next year...when I hear anything (or our friend FlamesNation does), itll get posted

Its not Locklear...anyway hopefully there will be more info on this player (has to be pretty good to end up at FSU) in the coming days and weeks. We could use some help at the LB spot if for no other reason than depth at the position

Now I'm intrigued how this guy relates to me.....I mean there was that girl in Cleveland but my lawyer said I didn't have to take the test....

SJ will be along in a bit to help you with that concept.

I believe that ranks up there with the "transitive property in Sports" theory

Yeah. Just cause he went to FSU doesn't mean he's going to be a game changer. Look at Maurice Jenkins if you need any further proof.

We just need depth on defense. Especially since the 2 decommits were db and de. O line wr and rb make up almost all of this years commits because we were so thin there. Hopefully some of the redshirts last year step up

Absolutely thin at rb for the future. Allen is a senior and rice is not a premiere runner. Abnar was the only guy left, its not about 1 year oldflame. Just look at our receiving core. You cant allow that to happen. Thats why there are 2 rbs in this class

I will continue to take exception to charactorizing the RB position as ¨thin¨. The reality of college football is that you pretty much have to recruit all positions annually to set yourself up for the future. Right now we are a solid 3 deep and only one is a senior. Anyone we sign at the position in this class will have to really open some eyes in the fall not to be redshirted. If that is ¨thin¨then we are and will be ¨thin¨at every position every year.

As far as Dez Rice is concerned, he may or may not be a premier runner when he actually will have a shot at being a featured back 2 years from now. Time will tell. IMHO he has done a pretty good job with the snaps he has had.

Not everyone has to be the second coming of Rashad Jennings you know...we have three very good running backs sharing the carries this spring and in the fall so that is not something I am worried about. really on offense my concern is going to be the WR position and maybe QB (since we will only have two QBs ready to go)

the RB position could be considered think since you only have 4 period on the roster. From what I see with ANY of the RB's is it looks like after AA this year, there are NO "big backs" on the roster even with what is incoming. Could that be a shift in offensive philosopy where we use alot more speed vs having 1 back that has to "carry" the load. TBH, the next back to become AA like in all honest could be the incoming TM the kid really runs the rock.

I could see a "rotation" of AA bulk of work, DJ has the Reggie Bush type dynamics about him, if he hits a crease I think hes gone "cribbing", and Rice being 3rd down back and change of pace, with any of the rest of the RB's incoming that are not RS'd filling in the DJ role of last year, carries at end of games, touch here or there. The team did "play" of them last year.

We actually have 5 RBs on the spring roster but I doubt Couamin or Kaigler really gets in unless either they beat one of the top 3 or there is an injury

Coumain was gone from the spring roster according to manson. He was the big back. Your 1 or 2 injuries away from being in trouble there. Of course freshman dont play a lot but you need to develop them. Dez is a nice gadget player but i dont see him ever being the main guy. I hated to see coumain go, he was a monster in the scrimmage i saw.

We have two more "big backs" still on the unofficial recruiting board, Corbin Martin (233 Lbs) and LCA's Carrington Mosley (225 Lbs) so if we can get one of those two that will help unless its a philosophy shift as was noted earlier

Martin looks like he could do damage from his picture alone. He has that "Alstott" look about him, running like the RB from Montana last year, you definately did not wanna step in front of him to often.
