I really liked the defensive pressure that was applied to their QB. After the first few plays of the game our defensive rush got better. The QB was scrambling all night. He did not have alot of time to set up and he was hit numerous times after he released the ball. I know that was one of DR's comments after last year. The secondary played excellent with good coverage and run support. The special teams played well. i was sorta concerned when they let the 2nd kicker kick off. He did not get it as far as Matt does so it affected the kick coverage. I don't think they were ready for a shorter kick. The punting semms to be up and down this year so far IMO. Mike is booming them in warm ups but in the games he is not getting the same hang time or distance. I thought it was just last week at NCSU with the larger crowd. We have quite a return weapon in Fogg. I watched him for 4 years in high school and it was a weekly occurance. He is like a 4.2-4.3 sprinter. He showed that last week when he ran down the wide reciever and forced the fumble. All he needs is a little crease and he's gone. The offense was moving the ball last night. The runing game was sluggish but most of the runs were up the gut. Once they went outside they could gain some yards. Des' run was a the longest of the night and there was a HUGE block by 83 feeling back to pick off a DB. They showed i ton the big scrren and it got the whole stadium saying OHHHH! Chris and Pat caught some passes when they were covered extremely well by the DBs. On a couple of the passes Mike lobbed it 1-2 seconds before they evened looked back to him. They just beat the other guy to the ball. Overall it was a pretty good outing for the team, a convincing win and not looking past them to JMU and getting out of the game fairly heathly.

LCA definitely producing players a la Frank Rocco: Des Rice (I have high expectations for his LU career after watching him for 4 yrs @ LCA!). Pat Kelly. Grant Jones. Scott Hyland. Bobby Massie. Michael and Chris Rocco. Rashad Jennings.

And as a ticket-holder on the "Baptist side" I was VERY disappointed in the attendance, there were dozens of empty seats near me and I'm on the 50. Shameful.

The run game is what's frustrating me. We keep saying it's awful, but we don't even try to run the ball. Every play seems to begin with "Mike" and end with "Brown". That's fine, he's our best player, but against a team like Robert Morris, we should have been getting our ground game going. It's not going to pick up if it's not given a chance. I don't know if it's what the coaches are seeing in practice, but I have a feeling it's just the play-calling on game day, which sometimes has me scratching my head. Rocco seems to say every week that we need to commit to the run, but then on game day it doesn't happen.

Agreed we need a running game. Mike Brown took some shots and was limping half the game. It was obvious when he came in to take the snap for the the Fg or extra point at the end of the game.

I feel our Defense has taken 10 steps forward from last year, but our offense has taken 2 steps back. I hope its just a few adjustments to make our offense run as smooth as last year.

Because no one in the 7-12 group has any claim to being ranked ahead of Eastern, which still nearly beat Washington and lost a tough hangover road game. New Hampshire would be the only team in that group to have a gripe, and the Wildcats got clobbered in their money game.

For those of you not in attendance, LU now has this gatling gun that "shoots" T-shirts. LIke this, but ours is better.

For once, we make a pointless purchase I'm pleased with. I was in awe of that thing every time it launched shirts. Forserious.
