I mean it makes total sense that you'd rather have your butt constantly kicked in the CAA with Towson then have a legitamate shot at the playoffs with LU

Bigger crowds, bigger opponents, more exposure. Liberty's schedule can't compete with the type of schedule that Towson goes up again. If a player can perform well against great talent and prove himself, then that's the direction he'll go.

I know what you're saying NG

Haha ya I definitely wouldn't complain if LU had Towson's schedule. Heck they even beat Coastal last year which is something we couldn't even do.

Even with better competition, here are the attendance numbers from this past season:
  • Liberty .... 16,216
    Towson ..... 7,107
And keep in mind we are drawing those numbers based on Big South competition that rarely brings more than a handful of fans. CAA schools like JMU, W&M as well as ODU would push our numbers even higher.

And then you factor in success on the field. Let's take a look at the last 3 years:

Liberty
  • 2008: 10-2
    2009: 8-3
    2010: 8-3

Towson
  • 2008: 3-9
    2009: 2-9
    2010: 1-10

So this all begs the question of whether a player would want to play in obscurity with little chance of success in order to be in a glossier league or would they rather play in front of bigger crowds and have legitimate aspirations of the playoffs. You make the call.

The kid is from Maryland, I'm sure that played more of a factor than Liberty vs. Towson.

We never know everything that goes into the recruiting battles. Towson could have told the kid that he will be a starter pretty much from day 1. Whereas, we could have told he will likely be a career back-up. You never know.

I agree on all points. Just having some fun at our old DII conference mate's expense. It seems like an eternity ago but I still remember the matchups back in the day.

Yea, those crab cake eaters like to stay close to home. Plus, Towson is closer to the beach. Maybe he's even an Oriole fan. Who knows? 8)

CAA>Big South is quickly becoming a weak argumrent with our facilities and consistent top 25 standing (in terms of teams like Towson and the other bottom feeders). If thats true then a recruit would rather go to Duke than somewhere like Boise State. Guarantee that RVA and Manson are spot on, its about location and/or playing time.

On a side note most of the top 25 in state are committed after the latest wave this weekend. Could possibly push up some mid level 25-50 kids to committ since UVA and Tech are both near their scholly limit already.
