Thanks for helping me out bigsmoth. I like the idea of moving mcgee to tight end and UVA has been know to produce some good ones...dont know if that is going to change with the coaching change though. I wonder if you think one will take a redshirt or not because they are rally struggling at that postion right now. I like Verica but he is a Senior and I think he is done with the coaching change.

he is 6'6" and has good hands since he ran a lot at collegiate. who knows on the redshirt. joe torchia was last years starter and he returns as his backup colter phillips so i would think they would redshirt him. i think rocco will get a shot because UVA is bringing in four QB's and two will probably go to other positions so i think the battle will be matheny, verica, and the signee from florida michael strauss who enrolled in january who is supposed to be darn good, then rocco. should be interesting.

Don't discount Ross Matheny a R-Fresh. from Stephens City,Va that played for Sherando High School. Matheny is a tall left handed QB that led Sherando to the Va. AA Div.4 State Championship game played at Liberty a few years ago against Amherst. Matheny broke his ankle in 1st Qt. and Amherst rolled from there. Al Groh loved this kid and even went as far to compare him freshman wise to Matt Schaub. Good luck to Rocco though.

I was about to ask how this affects our offense and then I remembered Streeter is our ringmaster now

i did not discount matheny.im well aware of his exploits in high school. he was a terrific player. i simply said who was in the running. matheny is probably the front runner right now, but with a new coach who knows. London is certainly not groh and it will be a new system so we will see.

Well, I guess we'll have something to talk about this off season. I almost wish there was no discussion and we were just surprised with an announcement.

Yes please. Any conversation of this will get my hopes up. Just like the playoffs.

Anybody else dare to consider the scenario of Rocco at QB throwing to Summers, Brown, and Kelly? And if we could only get Aldrekis back...

Would love this!!!!! We could play the Oregon type offense and Sir Chancey would do great with a spread offense like that....

It's funny how we used to be dying to get any QB in here who was just above awful and now at the prospect of getting a potentially great one in here all I can think about is "Man I'd hate that to happen to a good QB we have in Brennan". I guess it's a good problem to have.

That's exactly where I went. I want Tyler to get a shot at some point. I think he is at lease Brock Smith if not better and certainly more mobile.

AS great as I think it would be to have Mike Rocco, I do not think anyone but Mike Brown should be our starting QB next year. The man led the nation in total yardage, and we are talking about moving him to WR? NO!!!!! If everyone returns healthy, we will be loaded ar WR without him.

If Rocco comes, and he is better than Brennan, I could see us using him in the package we used with Tyler and Mike at WR a little more than we did this year. That's about it.

Also, after reading that thread, it's not a rumor at all. It was somebody asking a question. But from what I gathered in that short discussion, he may be the odd man out. So the opportunity to leave is there but it was just one guy's question.

If Rocco is the "odd man out" in the UVA QB situation, I could definately see him transferring. He was a really good safety in HS, but I'm not sure he would be FBS calibre.

...and top-10 in just about every other major passing category. We're getting a head of ourselves here. Mike Brown was our offense again this year. I think Tyler Brennan is a heckuva QB but let's not kid ourselves. Our only option right now is Mike Brown at QB.

With Summers, Kelly, Garner, Hayes and Eden at receiver, we're pretty set there too.

I agree that MB is the man next year but he will be a senior and I would love to have the competition for his spot the following year be between Rocco and Brennan :D

If he's half the safety his Brother was, bring him on. But I'll bet he wants to play QB only!

I only mentioned safety because I'm thinking if he is going to sit on the bench at UVA, I'm sure he would rather it be as a QB, but if he had a chance to start he might be willing to make the move to defense.
