A couple of old hags were talking Saturday about being at the VMI game when LU lost, sometime in the 1990s. After LU scored and took the lead, Coach Sam decided to go for an onside's kick in Lexington. VMI got it, and the momentum, and they stormed back to beat us.

I was at that game. We hadn't been able to stop VMI's tailback the entire game, and Sam thought our best chance to win was to get the ball back and run out the clock. The way VMI was running on us, I think they would have scored anyway if we had kicked it deep.
