What team would you like to see on LU schedule in the future

Has anyone said Rutgers yet? I think that, as LU progresses towards being a legitimate 1-AA school (or should I say "Championship Division" school), playing Rutgers would give us a good assessment as to how we would stack up against a lower-tier I-A ("Bowl Division") school, and give us an idea as to how far we need to go as a program.

Sweet irony. Rutgers was on the sched for '06 along w/ Wake and another I-A. Rocco wanted to avoid a soul-killing streak like last season and bumped Rutgers to a later date.

Rutgers isn't lower tier any more. They had a decent season last year and bring a lot of people back.

Lib & Chris -- Ed knows about the Rutgers deal hence the comment. He used to be one of our more volumninous (and well informed) posters back on the old Firehouse board. He's been on here less frequently since Flamefans launched due to his work schedule associated with a new position. If we can get Ed back on here on a regular basis, he's a great contributor.

A close game period....my Devils gave up 21 points to VMI last year, and I think we could put up more if we played them this year. Duke is now in the 14th year of their rebuilding process.

I got to watch that game. The sad thing (for Duke) is that they weren't that much better than VMI. Duke's personnel were a little bigger, a little faster and obviously deeper but they weren't that much more athletic than VMI's guys.

I think we could give Duke a run for their money this year and next year. Their biggest problem this year is at QB and it may not be any better come next year even with the suspended QB if he comes back.

How many I-AA teams are licking their lips to get a shot at Duke? I can hear ol' Jerry from the pulpit of TRBC now. "Yesterday, Liberry whipped ACC powerhouse, Duke." He will, of course leave out the part that it was in football, not basketball.

Still, if Duke was ever an option, we should jump at it!
