I'd think that would really help out conditions- that thing used to get the SNOT beat outta it.
If it were as simple as just moving the layer of turf, then I could see that happening. Unfortunately, there are multiple layers of rubber, concrete and sand under there. By the time you pull all that up w/o destroying it and move it somewhere else -- even if you could -- , it would be more cost-effective to simpley buy another brand new field, which I can guarantee is not going to happen.

With Brock taking more & more snaps, is Zack seeing action anywhere else?
At this point, no. Remember that our 2-deep at QB right now is Brock, Zack then Tavarus Dove and no one else. Coach R has stated that he wants Zack on the field somewhere but, in all likelihood, that will depend on if either of the freshman QBs coming in or any potential transfers can define the #2 spot behind Brock.

Libertine is right. I don't think Zach's role will be defined until the fall when the coaches see how much help they can get from the incoming freshmen QBs.

Has anybody seen tape on the incoming freshman QB's? Do any really have a shot to compete their first year in? This team's strength is going to be running the football, but we've got to have a passing game to compliment it in order to compete, and I don't know if we're going to have that with our current situation.

As long as Brock is healthy, our passing game is in good shape. We signed 5 guys who played QB in high school but only 2 of which will stay at that position here, Landis (Dacula, Ga) and Oehlschleager (Richardson, Tx, pronounced Ol-shlogger). In high school, Landis threw for 1500 yds playing in an option offense. Oehlschleager is as athletic but played in a similar offense to ours and probably has the better arm. I think they both certainly have the physical ability to compete and contribute but Rocco and Streeter will have a much better idea of who's going to be #2/#3 around mid-August.

basically you're saying if no one else steps up as #2, Zach's time at RB will be limited to keep him healthy enough for b/u QB?

that seems kind of a waste of talent- guess I had the impression we'd need him more at RB to compliment the big bruiser from Pitt.

hmmm- we shall see.

Actually, Zack is fitting very well in this offense at QB. I think it's possible you may see Zack in at QB for certain plays/situations regardless of Brock's health. I'm also not saying that if no freshman steps up, Zack will be relegated to the bench. Coach R has been unequivocal about the fact that he wants Zack on the field but the QB situation -- or, at least, the potential QB situation -- may complicate that. I doubt we'll be able to definitively say what Zack's going to do until we get through August.

I hate two quarterbacks splitting time. I remember last year when I was here everyone was like, "That's our running quarterback and that's our passing quarterback." It basically tells the defense what you're going to do when you put each quarterback into the game.

If Brock wins it, throw Terrell out to WR and use his speed. I think we're pretty set at RB. Didn't we get some massive kid from Pitt? That's what I thought.

Couple things: if both QBs are comfortable and effective in the offense, then it throws a huge wrinkle into the what the defense has to prepare for. Last year, neither of these guys was really comfortable or effective until late in the year. Also, what difference does it make if the defense does know what's coming and they can't stop it?
Finally, right now, Zack would be, at absolute best, our 4th WR. Zack is extremely quick which serves him well at QB and RB, but he is not straight-ahead fast. He had a lot of highlight reel big runs last year but, on all of them, he was caught from behind.
