I don't know how this has managed to stay off the board all day. There's a ton of great insight from our coach in here...
Colonial Athletic Association provides LU with a football dilemma

By Chris Lang

Here was Liberty football coach Danny Rocco's real concern with the way the NCAA FCS playoff committee selected the 16 teams for its 2007 playoff field:

Rocco didn't argue with the idea that the Flames hadn't done enough to merit selection. He would have felt much stronger about LU's case had his team managed to win one of the three attractive games on its schedule - against William & Mary, Elon or Toledo.

But the committee sent a message by selecting five teams from the Colonial Athletic Association, a message that said winning a conference championship in the Big South is fairly meaningless compared to playing and winning games in a much tougher league.

You have the CAA in our backyard and to our North...and the SoCon to our South...
...the Big South is almost No-Man's Land when it comes to I-AA football.

In the even the Big South never gets in line for an automatic bid sometime after 2010...and LU, due to his passing, becomes less and less associated as being "Jerry's school"...does anyone thing by then next 5 years that LU might become a legit (and attractive) candidate for either of those two conferences?

"The Flames are still talking with Richmond about playing next season as well."

The Spiders have steadfastly refused to even talk to us about football for years. Congrats to Batman & Robin for getting the conversation going. If we were to fill our final slot with UR our schedule would be plenty strong enough for an at-large. Of course then we have to go out and keep winning.

it is a tough situation, but rocco has seen to be very successful so far. however until we get an automatic bid, i think we will have to go 9-2 or 10-1 to get a bid...just like it was when we were an independent, or go 8-3 with a very hard schedule.

I would imagine that a majority of the 757 contingent that made the trek for the W&M game would be inclined to make the saunter up 64 to catch the Richmond game should it be scheduled.

Of course it would be nice for me to play Richmond. 20 minutes from my house, what's not to like?

As I try to stay with the Delaware/Delaware State broadcast on Espn, I have come to the conclusion, we need to do whatever we can to get into the mix by scheduling any program we can from the FCS tourney/CAA teams, and beat the urine out of them. Hornets? We would rip them to shreds, and it would be a good game with the blue hens.

Ohhh 6-7?? Man, wrap it up then 😭
