That's my friggin flag. I had to steal it back from Dwayne Carson's kids after it was all over.

By the way, we rushed the field. And by we, I mean all of the students, Smoothie, Steve Lloyd, Dwayne Carson, and who knows who else.

Great crowd.

Best L-U chant we've ever had.

Their music sucked worse than ours.

They also dumped Gatorade on Gillespie.

They were going for Barber but ran out of time before they could fill up more coolers.

If we get in, we'll be scary.

:D

I'm enjoying the mental picture of SMOOTHIE running.

did you have to give him a piggy back ride back to the car after that?

Godsil - ive heard a few things guys, so don't quote me. Broken leg that will require surgery which happens on tuesday i heard.

SJ and I traveled to the game and had a blast......really cool that you could actually hear all the cheers. We did have quite a crowd there and it was pretty awesome to have lived thru the Karcher era and now see this.

So many special moments to share but here is one that still kills me DIRECT FROM KALLANDER HIMSELF who said he is going to fight to get us in the playoffs by saying " I challenge the committee to find a team that has played better than Liberty in the last 7 weeks" - ( im pretty sure that was the quote but SJ can correct me if not )

Here is the wrapup from Chris ...
LU wins Big South football championship

By Chris Lang
Lynchburg News & Advance
November 18, 2007

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - Brandon Duke, Richard Thom, Wynton Jackson, Chris Stokes and Chris Luck. They all were in Ken Karcher's 2003 Liberty football recruiting class. They weren't the only ones, but they were unique in a way.

They were the only five to stick it out, through years of frenzied finishes and astonishing struggles. They helped LU rally to six-win seasons in 2003 and 2004. They suffered through the indignity of a 1-10 season in 2005. They watched the man who recruited them get fired. They wondered if the struggle was worth it.

hey medic...i am in great shape my little friend. and yes i did the move those chains chant! good times indeed!! it was a great win to cap off a great season. our fans were great as usual. i was ticked about the godsil play.....total bush league by GWU. BTW, GWU is a pretty school, but in the middle of nowhere. they have a nice facility, but what a tough recruit sell that is. GMTM, his gal and i went to this place called the bulldog quick snak...a country eatin diner and had some killer BBQ.....it was really one of those old school places you see on tv. in any regard it was fun being on the field, seeing coach rocco, JB, and the players, coaches and fans celebrate our first football championship!!! a great day to be a flame!

They held the Bulldogs to 16 yards rushing.
Glad CHRIS backed me up on that one- no one else said much about it, but that is INCREDIBLE!

I remember talking to Mr. Lloyd early in the season and he had the GW game circled on the calender , even then

seems as though Coach did, as well.

Our "D" only gave up a total of 189 yds- amazing performance.

Yes, definitely a great game. Defense really impressed me. I ran on the field as well, went to the middle of the pile, but saw Vince, Eddie, & co. and decided it would be bests to back up a bit before I got crushed! SJ was right in there though. Great win! Guys were having so much fun during the game, and so relaxed.

SJ's just as big as most of them- the only danger was to our kickers/DBs with him out there

Just listened to Coach's post game interview. He mentions how the first meeting of the year he spoke about Jerry and all Jerry, no football. In the meeting, he said he talked about completing the dream and that he wouldn't utter that phrase again until he had the Big South trophy in his hands. I was in that meeting, I remember that speech, and he never uttered the words "Complete the Dream" until last night, and that's what we did.

Ohhh 6-7?? Man, wrap it up then 😭
