I was looking around for ideas on promotional product ideas for the fans (like the Green Bay Packers Cheeseheads) and other than a foam flameshead, I found this. What ideas do people have about promotional products?



Also, what is the general consensus of LU Football adopting little fire decals for tackles, TD's etc. (Kind of like the Ohio State Buckeyes:

Buckeye Leaf: Refers to the stickers placed on the helmets of the Ohio State football players. If a player makes a good play, he is awarded with a Buckeye Leaf sticker to place on his helmet. If a player's helmet is completely covered with these stickers, that probably means he's a pretty good player! (from an OSU Site)

I don't like either. In sports, the Eagle is our mascot. There'd be no reason to put flame stickers on there. That's just me.

SJ - Don't you like the Firemen theme? I like the flaming eagle but I would rather see and Eagle or a Flame. This whole bi polar Flame to Eagle thing really needs some professional help!

I hate the fireman thing. Maybe I'm the only one.

However, of all the people I've talked to on campus, the consider or eagles. I haven't met one person that considers us a fire. All of the merchandise is eagles. The mascot is an eagle. Outside of the board I haven't met anyone who likes the fire.

Like I said, I can only go by personal experience. No one that I know thinks fire. There could be a ton of people out there, but from my experience, I haven't met them.

Guys the problem with firemen is this. They FIGHT FIRES! It would be like having a deer as your mascot and asking the fans to dress up as hunters or Dick Cheyney

Actually if you are familiar with railroads, firemen actually do stoke the fires. But I digress.

My feeling on the flames vs. eagle concept are well known and probably played out by now.

Okay, glad that the photo "stoked" some fiery debate...However, the idea was to elicit some ideas on promotional products and traditions (like teh decal stickers akin to Ohio State.) Even though the fireman thing might suggest trying to put out the flames, the chicago fire have the international fire department logo as their logo--I'm not necessarily advocating the fireman deal, simply raising a counterpoint.

Here's an idea, have a plastic version of a welder's visor/blow torch face shield that has a cool graphic splashed across the front, perhaps red in color to play on the whole flames theme of heat (i.e. Furnace).
