Don't know Ausberry and Best, other than on the field, but certainly glad to have them.
Steve Ackley is one of the nicest guys you'll meet. It's always refreshing to meet people who are nice to you, who seem to genuinely care about what's going on in your life regardless of the fact that you can offer them nothing in return. Ackley is this type of guy. Strong, fierce, and a leader on the field, he's a stand-up guy off the field as well. Meeting Steve Ackley in person has made me appreciate his play on the field even more. I'm proud of this classmate.
Jonathan Brummel is name most of you probably don't know. He's seen less than 2 minutes of playing time this season and at times hasn't even been listed on the depth chart. This is my roommate. He's also been one of my best friends for the last 10 or so years. We played football in high school together and Jonathan made it clear to everyone that it was his goal to play college football. We came up to Liberty as freshmen and Jonathan had spent the summer prior to coming up working out furiously. When walk-on tryouts came around he went, thought he did well, but didn't hear anything for about a month. Finally, they contacted him, and his dream of playing college football finally came true. During his sophomore season Jonathan saw a lot more playing time, particularly on special teams. When the coaching staff changed however Jonathan was relegated back to his duties as a scout team cornerback. I can't tell you how many times we've talked til 1, 2, or 3 in the morning about football, life, and his desire to play. It's been tough, sitting on the sidelines, just waiting for a chance to play. For the last 2 years Jonathan has stuck with football for one reason - he wanted a ring. That's why this season has been so exciting for many of us, his friends, because we know that for him, to get that BSC Championship ring would make it all worth it. While he might not play a huge part on Saturday's, his hard work and dedication in practice allow our guys to see exactly what they'll be facing each week. I would argue that guys like Jonathan play a vital role in the success of any team. I'm proud of this kid, and hope that when his parents come up this weekend (they've never seen him play) he'll get in on at least one occassion against the Keydets.
