For those of us listening on the radio, I can attest that our fans were very loud. Half of the time I couldn't tell if what had happened was good or bad because the crowd noise was the same after every play. I'm not kidding.

Ditto! I haven't had that much fun listening to a football game on the radio, ever! (there's a certain basketball game that trumps it.) Mr. Edwards can be frustrating because he goes forever sometimes without saying how much time is left in the quarter, and Rutigliano can be dry (though he was hilarious on the 2-pt. conversion play to Jennings), but I really didn't care.

In short, I'm excited that I was so excited about LU football. The loss hurts, but how great is it to be able to be this hyped up about our Flames. I spoke with someone at the game who said it might be the largest contingent to an away LU football game, ever. Even though we lost, I know we can keep support like that going! GO LU!

Positives....

LU Fans
LU's Kicking game was great.
Brock showed a LOT more confidence the last 5 minutes of the game, and into OT.

The Cross dude at the 3rd Quarter appeared to me to be the guy (or a friend of his) who was on this board several months back. He was here asking us to join him in protesting the moving of the Wrenn Cross. The chapel on W&M called the "Wrenn Chapel" or something had their cross removed, then added back in later. Now the cross is in a glass case with other religious symbols.

I think the guy thought with us being a Christian school, Falwell's school that our entire fan-base was going to bring crosses and join him in protest. Since we didn't, it didn't make sense.

I appreciate the guy for being upset about it but it was the wrong forum and our fans were there for a football game, not a protest.

^^^ I said I would do it and I did. If someone stopped for a moment to think of something higher than the game then it was worth it. Some people clapped others questioned. I didn't call anyone names or wish ill-will. Quite the contrary, the cross is the symbol of sacrifice and love. I couldn't back out on Jesus despite criticism.

Liberty has a great community. I look forward to our teams meeting again.

Keep me on the list of names of those who believe LU has a very bright future. We will celebrate some big W's together...and take some tough L's like we did last night. Thanks for letting my son and I hang out before the game.

I definitely respect your position and stand.

However, as an observation: In a two block saunter from where I parked to the stadium I passed two Baptist Churches and saw a Methodist Church which sat directly across the street from the main part of campus a few doors down from the W&M Office of Economic development.

So while the merits of the argument may rest more with changing/watering down the legacy and tradition of W&M's heritage in the chapel, at the very least there is ample access to church/faith within walking distance of the students.

The protesting is over. Like this thread, it is meant to be something positive.

I wish Jerry was there last night. I am apalled that Liberty fans were heckled about Jerry's passing. We need a return to better sportsmanship.
