Now that we have made it through the media days and all of the various polls. We have a better idea of what is expected of our opponents this fall. Here is a quick rundown of our opposition this fall:
Week #1 - September 1st at 7:00 pm

Frankie DeBusk
TC Head Football Coach & Acting A.D.
2006 Results: 6-5
DII SAC Preseason Poll: 5th

Patrick King
6' 0" 220 lb Senior Running Back

Jamichael Caldwell
6' 1" 210 lb Senior Wide Receiver
Notes: While the Pioneers are picked 5th in their Division II conference, they aren't short on talent. They had 10 players named to the preseason All-SAC team including 8 first teamers. They have a pair of big offensive weapons in seniors RB Patrick King 2nd in SAC rushing in 2006) and WR Jamichael Caldwell (rewriting the TC record books for TDs and receiving yards).

Rocky Rees
Head Football Coach
2006 Results: 5-6
DII PSAC Preseason Poll: 5th in Western Division

Aaron Dykes
Senior Running Back
Notes: The Red Raiders bring back 15 of 22 starters from last year's disappointing season. 9 of those starters are on offense where they run the old school Wing-T which relies heavily on deception. Ship generally is a major player in the PSAC every year under 18th year head coach Rocky Rees. The defense was heavily susceptible to the pass in 2006.

Jimmye Laycock
Head Football Coach
2006 Results: 3-8
CAA Preseason Poll: 6th in South Division

Mike Potts
6' 4" 220 lb Senior Quarterback

Joe Nicholas
6' 3" 210 lb Senior Receiver
Notes: The Tribe only posted three wins in a frustrating 2006 campaign. But one of those left a homecoming crowd at Williams Stadium with a severe case of heartburn. Their tailback that rushed for 113 yards and 2 TDs on us is gone and they really have not much returning to replace him. But they have had QB issues and Jake Phillips just won the job right before the season opener. It could be another long year for the Tribe but they are tough to beat at beautiful Zable Stadium in historic Williamsburg. This would be a fantastic roadie for everyone.

SoCon Preseason Poll: 6th

Terrell Hudgins
6' 3" 226 lb Sophomore Receiver

Chris Bland
6' 4" 197 lb Senior Defensive Back
Notes: This school took major hits from last year's squad. They lost arguably the best FCS defensive player int he nation to graduation and the NFL. Then they booted the senior-to-be QB for academic reasons. Now they have a flood of newcomers and question marks all over the field.

Dave Opfar

2006 Results: 3-8
NEC Preseason Poll: Released August 14th
Notes: This team has even more question marks. They lost all of their top weapons froma year ago to graduation including their all time leading rusher. Just from a casual observance, the Red Flash would probably have bigtime trouble handling our first two opponents.
