“Corey Russell had some off the field issues that have been dealt with internally,” DeBusk said. “He has sufficiently completed all the required tasks, and he is officially reinstated to the Tusculum College football team effective Aug. 2.”
Russell was temporarily dismissed from the team during the winter because of his involvement in the use of a stolen credit card. Russell, entering his junior year as a third year starter, was not charged with the actual theft of the card.
"In a general sense, we are coming off the most successful academic year that we've had in six years. We had more scholar-athletes than we've ever had in football. However, at the same time, we have a significant group of players who are waiting on summer school grades to see if they will be eligible for the season. Charleston Southern has listed 10 returning starters to a defensive unit that stands to be among the best in the Big South this season. However, Mills says that number could drastically change by the time the season starts.
