I remember how St Paul's fans warned us last year ...

I expect the same result this season.

on the other hand- should the unthinkable occur- I'm willing to bet Coach Rocco wouldn't let those guys off the hook for the rest of the year. Twice a days 'til December

Medic, that was the perfect setup. I went back to find the stuff that the SPC guys said:

Wow are you guys going to be in for a surprise on opening day. SPC is loaded. They started 18 freshman last season and were 11 points from a conference title game showing. Coach Bailey is the 2nd winningest active coach in DII and 2nd all-time for HBCU's behind Eddie Robinson of Grambling. His biggest strenght is recruiting. This season will be a breakout season for SPC
Last season, defense was the key for SPC, which finished the season No. 15 in Division II. The unit will be sparked by all-CIAA DB Greg Toler, who led the conference in interceptions (6). The defensive line should also be solid behind veteran bookend defensive ends Corey Boston and Gregory Green.

FLuke, first game of the season.
Jet lag. Laughing

And, consideirng we were ranked #15 in the nation on defense (Div II) , I can assure that's not going happen next thursday.

Woo boy. Good times.

SJ....sometime you need to realize you don't know it all...a team can have another's number...we were better then them last year and still lost....I am not saying we are going to lose that game for sure, but I was looking for at least one more loss because i thought one loss would be way too optimistic...its our first road game and so I thought why not that game....

but thanks for pointing out that they aren't good because of their conference....its furthered this discussion.....

I think we will be 9-2...I really have no clue where that second lost will come from..but maybe you could enlighten us
I wasn't saying just you. A lot of people on here think SoCon or CAA when they think Elon and W&M. They don't realize that the Big South Conference is as good as the teams in the middle of those conferences, and is better than the bottom of those conferences. W&M was picked last in their division, and Elon was picked 6th in their conference (out of 8 teams). I hate making excuses, but the biggest reason we lost to W&M last year, even bigger than the kicking situation, was Rashad Jennings getting hurt in the 3rd quarter. He had 186 yards through the first 5 minutes of the third quarter and was averaging over 8 yards a carry. Zach and Terron did great filling in the rest of the game, but Rashad was running all over them. We would've scored AT LEAST another touchdown had he not gotten horse collared and won the game. We blame the kickers, but that tackle on the sideline was what ruined that game for us.
I know what you are saying....I just wasn't about to be lumped into a borad statement when I know very well that the SoCon and CAA bottom dwellers would probably be bottom dwellers in the big south...It was hard for me to chose a second game for LU to lose...and my first pick was W&M simply because they seem to have our number...until we beat them its hard for me to believe otherwise...it has nothing to do with them having more talent then us, because we all know we were a lot better then them LAST year...but sometimes its more then talent...sometimes its just plain luck...or bad luck in this case...so that is why I picked the William and Mary game as a loss....I hope we win 10 games...actually I hope we win 11...but I just don't know if it will happen....I am just trying to be as realistic as possible so I'm not disappointed...when you've gone to LU for 4 years its hard to be to optimistic....

PS...I just re-read my post replying to yours and man was I angry....haha...sorry about that...I had just been putting up a ton of curtain rods and the curtain rods were testing my patience....

ok...now i will read the rest of this thread hoping to be entertained

wwh welcome. but let me tell you your posts are simply ridiculous. why do you D2 people insist on coming to our board talking smack with nothing more than what you are bringing to the table? you are a 6-5 team from a good D2 conference, picked to finish 5th which is where you finished last year. yes your rushing defense was good...against D2 competition!. your best win was against #17 bethel in game one! #17 in NAIA! against good D2 teams you were beaten......carson-newman anyone?? you did hang with a good newberry team though. as SJ said we ran for 80 some yards against the ACC champions, so i have no doubt in my mind we will get at least that. you have not seen an O-line like ours. as a former I-A player i would think you would bring more that what you have brought to the table. it's ok to be a proud dad, but be realistic.
