I ran across this while checking out the Patriots Blog keeping up with Redd and Sene's progress.

A few nuggets of note:

Don Davis, who served an an assistant strength and conditioning coach in 2007, is no longer listed among the team's coaches. A former linebacker [for the Patriots] who transitioned into coaching last season, Davis has left the club to pursue the ministry.

BIO:

I am currently serving as one of the Pastors at Living Waters Christian Church in Attleboro and Norwood Massachusetts. I was ordained on May 20, 2007 by the IFCA (International Fellowship of Christian Assemblies).

My responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching and preaching Gods word. This calling I accept humbly but by no means do I take it lightly. (James 3:1) I am still in awe of our great Lord and Savior for counting me worthy of ministering the word of God to His Saints. (1 Tim 1:13)

Along with those responsibilities I am also the Chaplain and an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the New England Patriots football club. This is the same team I played my final four seasons in the NFL. I retired from the NFL after 11 seasons on March 1, 2007.

Attleboro is only 15 minutes or so from Foxborough...so if Sene or Redd are looking for a church and a fellow Christian whose been where they are...that church is close by. (Sidenote: There are several other current players who are believers: Richard Seymour, Sammy Morris, et al.)

Lolo Jones, who came up agonizingly short in the 100m hurdles but was gracious in defeat, is involved in christian ministry according to her wiki. According to her bio and this blog, http://passionchurch.se/blog/, she attends Healing Place Church in LA. http://www.healingplacechurch.org/believe.php

From an interview in a fitness magazine leading up to the Olympics:

What do you do to cope with stress?

I listen to a lot of Christian music, and reading my Bible calms me down immensely. But when I'm standing in a stadium packed with 80,000 screaming fans, I can’t just whip out my Bible before I run. That’s when I start praying! It's so loud that I can’t even hear what I'm saying, but it always helps.

08 AugOlympics.

The Olympics had it’s grand opening today. Here’s a really cool blog from a new friend of mine. Dino Rizzo pastors a great church called Healing Place Church in Baton Rouge. I am so honored for the opportunity to speak there next weekend.

A few weeks ago we had the really cool honor of praying for Lolo Jones at one of our Sunday services at HPC. Lolo is a great young woman who has been faithfully committed to Healing Place for years. Not only is Lolo the 2008 USA Outdoor Champion in 100m Hurdles, 2008 World Indoor Champion in 60m hurdles and BACK to BACK U.S.A. Indoor Champion 60m Hurdles in 2007 and 2008 but she will be representing the USA in the Beijing Olympics! Lolo Jones She said that HPC is a golden church that deserves a gold medal - and she will get us one in China! Wow! Definitely be praying for Lolo, as she is such a great young woman with a generous heart and for the Beijing Olympics as this could be a huge opportunity for the Gospel.
