I am going to be in North Carolina on business for a couple of days and I think I might be able to sneak a quick dinner before my flight out of Greensboro Monday evening. If you had about 30-40 minutes to grab a decent meal in Greensboro or Winston where would you suggest?

I've been recommended to slide by Stameys by Greensboro Coliseum. Any other suggestions if I am able to carve out some time before the miserable flight home?

What type of food do you want? That would narrow it down a ton.

stamey's is good. we eat there every year when we go to the ACC tourney

And honestly, if you're only gonna have 30-40 minutes to eat, you're not gonna have time to go to Winston.

Stamey's is pretty far from the airport. its on the other side of Gboro. if you only have 30 min you probably dont have time to drive there, eat, and drive back

Based on where I am driving from I can go either way. I am just trying to get an idea if I have that type of time.

I am good with whatever the locals like other than that stew.

Are you coming from Walkertown or Kernersville? The only other option in the middle is High Point, and if you're in High Point, I'm telling you to go to Mama Mia's.

Thanks for the recommendations. But here's another question ... What's a good lunch option between the Greensboro airport and heading north on 29? Do the same suggestions apply?

My favorite place to eat in Greensboro is Daryls, which is across the street from their big 3 story mall.

thats 4 season mall CJ, but coming from the airport that is a little past the 29 exit i believe. I'd have to look at a map and am too lazy, but I believe getting food somewhere off of Wendover would be your best option. SJ could tell you better cause he drives that way a lot to come to school

That "big" mall is smaller than the one in Winston. I just find that funny.

Four Seasons isn't too far from the exit for the airport. With the new traffic pattern in Greensboro it cuts down a lot of time going up there.

The mall is before the 29 exit. Stamey's is a good option if you want casual. Darryl's is also good. If you're looking for more upscale you can't go wrong with Lucky 32 or Village Tavern. They are both excellent. If in High Point, I'd recommend Liberty Steakhouse beside Oak Hollow Mall. Very good.

I figured if he was only gonna get 30-40 minutes he wouldn't have time for a Lucky 32s or something like that. That's one of the reasons I said Mama Mia in HP.

I guess I wasn't thinking about a quick meal. Another great option is Elizabeth's Pizza which has locations everywhere in town.

If you want pizza in Winston, go to either Mellow Mushroom or Burke St.

US Airways is being US Airways today so my prop flight into Greensboro was delayed. So I just grabbed a panini in Charlotte. But I am filing away this info for Monday.

You woulda been better off renting a car in Charlotte and driving. You could've been to Greensboro by now.

Well, SJ, it's not "big" by Mall of America or even Winston standards, but it's huge compared to River Ridge in Lynchburg.

river ridge shouldn't get credit for being a mall. it is like 3 stores with some junk stores connected haha

sly, if you want to stick with the stamey's bbq theme, but don't want to drive as far, try out Country BBQ on wendover. it looks like a hole in the wall place, but it's really good stuff.

since I am fat and lived in Greensboro my whole life, I am the expert on this...

A few options listed on here are good and are in between the airport and 29...

Cookout and Stamey's are great and Country BBQ is really good.

Also, Hayble's Hearth is amazing. Good home cooking and my friend's parents own it. Its on Spring Garden St.

If I think of some more, I'll post later.
