I'm not sure if anyone else has ever heard of it...I'm sure you have, I feel like I've been in the dark for quite sometime.
Here's how they describe themselves:
What is Woot and who's behind it?
Woot.com is an online store and community that focuses on selling cool stuff cheap. It started as an employee-store slash market-testing type of place for an electronics distributor, but it's taken on a life of its own. We anticipate profitability by 2043 – by then we should be retired; someone smarter might take over and jack up the prices. Until then, we're still the lovable scamps we've always been. But don't take our word for it: see what the online community has to say at this Wikipedia article.
I see only one item, do you sell anything else?
No. We sell one item per day until it is sold out or until 11:59pm central time when it is replaced (see next entry for details). However, each item we sell is in stock and typically ships within 2-3 business days.
If you google it you can find some sites that record the deals they have done the last week or so...there are some pretty good deals on there though...I like the idea and will either check it daily or add it to my RSS feed

I've been watching it for the last 9 months or so. I've yet to buy anything. But I've come pretty close. Woot-offs are pretty entertaining days.

Have been trying to get one of my products on there for some time:) They are getting a pretty good amount of request for product listings -and that is a good sign that it is working.

Wonderful. This is the last website I needed to see...I'm a sucker for random doohickeys. However, I like the thought of a battery powered lawn-mower. It costs me just about $10 bucks to cut the grass these days. It adds up quick!

Bought some headphones about 6 months ago from Woot. $5 dollars. They work great, and the shipping
is fast.
Lately, a lot of their stuff has been more expensive than I'd like for an impulse purchase. That said,
it's a fun site to check from time to time.

How often do they sell out? I'm not trying to have to wake up at 1am everyday to get a good deal

it depends on what it is....i use bagsofcrap.com. it sends me an email every day and i use it for wootoffs.
the gold ticket for woot is their bags of crap. they are a buck and you can buy 3 of them and there is random stuff and occasionally a guy gets a plasma or lcd tv in their $1 bag of crap.
i've bought about 10 things from woot.
whats awesome as well is that they coudl sell a refridgerator on there and shipping would only be 5 bucks...

The only problem this site has is the flat shipping rate. It's great for giant TVs, but sometimes they sell photo paper. And it literally doubles the price of your order.

i gave away the sandisk mp3 players to my brother and dad. and the roomba when to a guy here at work.

wootoffs begin at midnight ct. all the new items begin at midnight. wootoffs have been known to go for days. at least 24 hours. they put something up until it sells out then puts something else up.
