We signed up 19 in 3 hours yesterday. There were around 150 or so people there at orientation. A lot of other people said they were going to sign up in August and that they were interested.

I heard a commercial on the radio the other day. I thought it was funny that the guy kept saying something like "the Liberty Student Fan Club" or something really boring like that. I guess you don't have an official name yet?

oh also that reminds me. It said that if you sign up you get priority seating. Does that mean you guys are reserving the good seats at bball and football. That's really gonna make some folks upset. I guess they'll just have to join if they don't like it.

What they're wanting to do is have Student Flames Club as the "official" name and LUnatics as the "nickname." As for priority seating, here's a breakdown of it:

You can buy tickets for that spot. They're a lil more expensive I think but the spot in 122 is a spot that people can buy.

Yes 122 is LUconn's crew. They used to yell stuff to me when I was taping the pregame a couple of years ago. That section is also near where Gary #1 fan Householder sits with his crew.

I've got one designed, I just have to get it coded. I don't know if they'll let me use it or not. When I mentioned the idea of it they suggested we let a computer class do it or something. I could have it coded pretty quick if they'd let me, it's just a matter of being told I could.

The Student Flames Club has caught on like a wild fire. It's too late in the game to change the name now. I know I've pushed for the other name, but I'm perfectly cool with the Student Flames Club name now. Why, you ask.

We had 105 students sign up today at early orientation. Out of 300.

We now have 240 members (roughly). There are still two more early orientations (transfers and freshmen), then regular orientation for transfers and freshmen, then the upperclassmen come back. Honeslty, I think we could have over 400 before school even starts. We will easily meet our goal for membership.

Things are still being worked on right now for what's gonna happen this year. I do know we're taking a bus to Wake Forest. Other than that, none are confirmed.

My throat is killing me from talking to so many people today but that's perfectly fine.

I'm getting more and more excited about this.

There's gonna be a lot of angry upperclassmen that first game against St. Pauls. From talking to some people, some (not all) of the upperclassmen think that just cause they've been here for a couple years they are entitled to the front row. If they don't join the SFC, they aren't going to be sitting in the front. It's the harsh reality. Everyone in the administration is behind this club and want to see it do well. The upperclassmen that think it's a joke will see that it's not and will have to sit farther back. If you know someone who is an upperclassman and thinks this is a stupid club or whatever, let them know that we're serious about this. If they have any questions about it they can e-mail me as well.

They'll just have to eat their humble pie. I was one of those upperclassmen who thought I was entitled to my area at the Vine's center. We were forced to move on a few different occasions. I wasn't happy but what can you do? You just have to take it and move. LUPD does the dirty work.

If they join the club then by all means they can sit in the front. I'll be on the front row for everything to begin with and I'll happily move over a little bit if they're in the club.

When I saw there was a cost associated with this, I really didn't think this would do well. This is very pleasing. I'll be very interested to see how the upperclassment take to it. They tend to think of new things like this as lame. But I bet some of them have been waiting for something like this. Imagine this many in the group stuffed in the Vines Center. Man, that will be quite a sight.

Is there such thing as a Non-Student Flame Club? I guess that's just the regular flames club.

Can anyone confirm this rumor--that Mark Hines OK'd (I'm sure he shed a tear, too) the Student Flames Clubs members to wear their T-shirts the first week of class, in order to boost enrollment? Pretty cool, is they are. Nothing like bribing the students with a relaxed dress code to drum up school spirit.
