We normally get a couple days of 100 degree heat during the summer...no big deal.

I think he's pointing out that the irony isn't all that tasty right now. It's not the best time to ask where the warming is.

It actually has absolutely nothing to do with the temperature outside in Lynchburg or wherever you are, but in the content of the article. Maybe it should be stated, "Where is the science in Global Warming?". If we don't wake up and treat the lack of science and the non-urgency on this idea that is being portrayed as needing urgent response, this issue alone could change life as we know it as we will become taxed out of existence.
