Ahmadinejad says Israel will soon disappear

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad predicted on Monday that Muslims would uproot "satanic powers" and repeated his controversial belief that Israel will soon disappear, the Mehr news agency reported.

"I must announce that the Zionist regime (Israel), with a 60-year record of genocide, plunder, invasion and betrayal is about to die and will soon be erased from the geographical scene," he said.

"Today, the time for the fall of the satanic power of the United States has come and the countdown to the annihilation of the emperor of power and wealth has started."

The Allies: America, Israel, Britain
The Axis: Iran, North Korea, assorted Islamic nations ending in "stan"

However, this nut job has said so much of this crap that you could dry it out and fertilize your lawn with it.

This guy says a lot of this stuff, most of it designed to distract attention from the fact that Iran's economy has been in the crapper for over a decade and that the country's youth have pretty much had it with the Islamic Revolution. There's no need to go after these turkeys right now because they're cooking themselves one drumstick at a time.

I anticipate a lengthy missive from Peter Parker on this topic.

I walked right by Ahmadinejad at the GCC Summit in Qatar this past June and almost didn't realize who it was until I saw a horde of media chase after him. I couldn't believe how small of a security detail he had with him.

I agree with RTF once again (this is starting to become a bad habit) as far as the rhetoric being a distraction from issues at home. Young Iranians look at the prosperity just across the persian Gulf in the Emirates, Qatar and Bahrain and wonder why they aren't doing better themselves.

I'm with Sly and RTF on this. I figure if we leave Iran alone (as long as there's no imminent threat) the whole nation will collapse within the next ten years.

The worrisome thing is that a nation on the brink of collapse has little left to lose. I'm thinking a Mouse That Roared scenario here, for those up on old obscure movies.

Ok, from this moment forward, I'm going to try my best to keep a tally of who Sly knows, covered, saw play high school ball, or has "walked right by."
