LU punk band: HOPE looking for them...

Hey everyone,

Wasn't sure where to put this. A loose acquaintance of mine whose name I have forgotten (this was maybe 8 years ago) was a Liberty graduate. He turned me on to this punk band called Hope, which he said was a band that was big at Liberty University.

He gave me this CD and I treasured it for a couple of years before it got destroyed (didn't have a computer to rip it like now-a-days).

I would LOVE any information on this band, or if someone could point me to a place to buy or otherwise acquire their CD.

Thanks!

You know, it's nice to get this kind of recognition. I have gone to incredible lengths to track down this band. I mean, it took me a good 8 seconds to google "liberty university message board", about 5 minutes of browsing/registering, and then 6 YEARS to actually make the post. Hard hard work. :P

I also get the feeling you are picturing me as a girl, which is creepy even if I was a girl. But I'm a dude, so settle down.

1. You need to work on pacing yourself....8 secnods, 5 minutes and then 6 years....spread that out a little more!

2. I like picturing you as a girl more :D 8)

I think the correct term to use would be "fantasizing", not "picturing".

Nope, just "Hope".

Sounded a bit like Crucified, only maybe a bit more wild/less polished and a lot more passionate. And I guess less thrashy.

So pretty much "didn't sound like Crucified" might work better.

You almost had me smacking my head there. But it turns out this is not the correct band.

This was definitely a Christian band. And they would have been broken up (or very nearly) by 1998, when the hope from that wikipedia article put out their first album.

They actually sounded a lot like Crucified. I would say they sounded closer to Crucified than any other Christian band I can think of. I was basically trying to name a band someone might actually have heard of, but meh.

This might help, and this might get me banned out of principle, but the friend I am talking about said he went to LU with Carrot Top.

Now I can't find any quick info on the net saying when or if Carrot Top went to Liberty University, but if he did then that might give a good time frame for people to think about. When Carrot Top was there.

*ducks*

I'd say that your friend is not very good at connecting people and places. Carrot Top did not attend Liberty.

Not so fast my friend! While the chemically enhanced prop comic may not have gone to LU, I went to school with a guy named Duane Sherrick who was universally referred to as CT (or Carrot Top in formal situations). He worked as an engineer for WLNI for several years after he graduated. This was in the 70s though, so I doubt it's the same guy. I would not be surprised however if other "Carrot Tops" have passed through Liberty Mountain since then. People aren't always real creative where nicknames are concerned.

Yeah, this friend of mine was missing a bit I'd say. But he DID attend Liberty on a full scholarship :p He definitely was talking about THE Carrot Top. He had stories about him and everything (e.g. girl stuff with being famous).

Doesn't mean this is reality, obviously.
