the other day i was at the park and i saw the most amazing thing....people dressed up. running around with styrofoam swords, axes, shields, bows and arrows and nerf footballs whacking the ever living crap out of each other....i was stunned and completely perplexed at this discovery i'd made. these weren't kids either....these were adults...it was quite possibly the stupidest thing i've ever seen.

that sight would not leave me so i had to do research....i work for a network security firm so i had plenty of nerds to bounce what i had seen off of them...low and behold my sr. developer let me in on what it was that they were doing...LARPing...LIVE ACTION ROLE PLAYING...

he then told me an ex employee is the leader of the davenport "Realm"...

their website is www.belegarth.com

the local website (around here) is www.beornve.com

and if you youtube beornves you can see what it is i'm talking about...

I found this quote funny....don't really know why...

"Here's to the growth of the House of Einherjar, and, with luck, the beginning of good relations.."

We do not swing of the neck or head for safety purposes and try to avoid "below the belt" shots for courtesy
At least they're courteous.

 So this is like all they do basically!
How many weapons were in the trunk? Were they all in : "functional period clothing"? haha
This is amazing. There are some dudes here that play this role playing game all the time (no clue on the name) that has stuff like magic missle. They are scary enough, but these dudes on here are way worse and down right disturbing.

Actually a few of the SFCers are into this sort of thing. I personally am not, though. Im enough of a nerd for being in the marching band and the sword fight club.

how is this any different from the sword fight club?

Isn't BJ's bad leg the result of a Sword Club injury? :P

Seriously, though, everyone knows that the first rule of Sword Club is that you don't talk about Sword Club. :rofl

SFC is LARP to a degree except we do not dress in period costumes and create characters and use "magiks" That is the best way I can describe it.

It's surprising how many of these people are actually dead. A lot of rubber sword cleaning accidents, I presume.

Haha...well played CJ. Actually there is a whole nother story behind the leg issue which I have told already I believe but that would be interesting if that was the reason (insert Tonya Harding/Nancy Kerrigan joke here)

you are like on the fence larpers. seriously though...if you are gonna go for nerd you might as well go for the gusto and aim high....go for super nerd...time to incorporate nerf football spells....just bust it out one day....it will catch on....there are too many supernerds in waiting by the looks of the video...it will be welcomed....
