I actually tried it the last storm. It was coming down really in the same 2 spots for about 15 minutes. and no matter what I tried I was either pointing at the wrong place or I just could't catch it. I think a bit of luck comes into it. Even in a fast burst mode you might not catch it. I'm sure there's some kind of trick with slowing down the shutter speed or something that I don't know about.
