See, here's the great misconception in the MMA community. It's not Mixed Martial Arts that America has a hard time accepting; it's the d-----bag mixed martial artists that come with it.

thats one of big reason why fighters with the image that Kimbo markets hmself with should NOT be the face of MMA. fighters like randy couture, dan henderson, rich franklin, GSP, etc... should be showcased to introduce america to combat athletes that are not only excellent fighters, but excellent people as well.

Dave touched on that subject very briefly in the article with his discussion of GSP and the organization that he has set up, etc...

You misunderstand me. For years, MMA subsisted off of dirty little clubs and DVD sales with its main attraction being that people were willing to do unspeakable things to their bodies for little to no money in an environment that would redefine the word "unsafe". In that sense, MMA was exactly the same as porn. Yet now that MMA has gone just the slightest bit mainstream, you guys want to get all picky about who "represents" you. So the guy's a converted street fighter? So what? It would be called snobbery if you all had any real reputation to be conceited about. You should just be glad that there's somebody putting MMA out there even if it's just Mrs. Marc Anthony's initials.
