The New York Daily News reports that Roger Clemens carried on a decade-long affair with country star Mindy McCready.
The Daily News says the romance that began when McCready was a 15-year-old aspiring singer performing in a karaoke bar and Clemens was a 28-year-old father of two. His attorney denied that the two had a sexual relationship. "He flatly denies having had any kind of an inappropriate relationship with her," Rusty Hardin said. "He's considered her a close family friend. ... He has never had a sexual relationship with her."

Somehow, someone has to be looking for a blue dress.

I don't get it. Clemens wife trumps Mindy in all areas except maybe her singing voice.

OK... now this is kind of funny...so I go find an only Mindy McCready CD to listen to at work today...listen to the first song and it is "Ten Thousand Angels" ...her big hit off the CD. Listen to the lyrics and it is quite humerous in light of todays developments.
FYI...it came out in 1996.
Speaking of the devil
Look who just walked in
He knows just where to find me
Here we go again
I can tell he's gonna ask me to dance
But that's not as far as he wants to go
I need ten thousand angels
To help me tell him no
Lead me not into temptation
Heaven help me to be strong
I can fight all that I'm feeling
But I can't do it alone
Help me break this spell that I'm under
Guide my feet and hold me tight
I need ten thousand angels
Watching over me tonight
It's time to face my weakness
Look him in the eye
Lord knows it won't be easy
But I've just gotta try
I can't let myself get lost in his arms
That's how I got my heart broke before
I need ten thousand angels
To walk me out the door
Lead me not into temptation
Heaven help me to be strong
I can fight all that I'm feeling
But I can't do it alone
Help me break this spell that I'm under
Guide my feet and hold me tight
I need ten thousand angels
Watching over me tonight
I need ten thousand angels
Watching over me tonight
Ten thousand angels
Watching over me tonight
Ten thosasnd angels
Watching over me tonight
Watching over me tonight

Clemens is obviously a bigger dirtbag than I previously thought (which is hard to top). He was my hero when I was a kid. It's tough to see your former idol go down so hard. Obviously he never deserved the hero worship he got from me as a kid...

I have officially lost all respect for Roger Clemens. It's actions like THIS that are destroying the sanctity of marriage. I guess Clemens forgot that part of his vows that read "forsaking all others." To betray your wife by throwing her love for you back in her face is selfish, disgusting, and sacrilege.

Clemens sure knows how to pick 'em, too. Appears she put on serious wait between '98 and '06. AND she allowed Rosie O'Donnell (there's a role model!) to hold her (McCready's) baby during a concert in '06. Weird...

im really not sure why there is such a big fuss about all of this.
if neither she nor her parents pressed charges, its all a moot point.
is clemens a dirtbag for cheating on his wife? yes.
is he a scumbag for cheating on her with a 15 year old? yes
not sure on the statute of limitations, but if she isn't pressing charges now (and im sure the publicity is good for her 'career' right now) i dont think it will cause him any trouble other than annoyance, embarrassment and maybe a divorce?

Statutory rape doesn't have to be reported. If it happens, and the police find out, you're done.

What is the statute of limitations on that though? I'm pretty sure at this point she would have to press charges. If she did, it wouldn't surprise me as she seems to have had some financial difficulties the past 5 years!

From the little bit of googling I did it seems that 3 years is about the average... but I think with this out in the open like it is, it would not be good for it to just be brushed aside as if it were nothing.

I think the doo doo has less to do with statutory rape and much much more to do with the defamation suit he filed against McNamee.
Clemens has always claimed to be a family man, this evidence destroys his character. He probably lied to his own lawyers/they didnt dig this up, because I dont think theyd file a suit against McNamee with all this garbage in his closet.

The Rocket filed a defamation suit against McNamee on Jan. 6. McNamee's lawyer Richard Emery said revelations of the affair would have a big impact on that case because they influence Clemens' claim that his reputation was damaged.
"If the case heads to trial and is not dismissed, as we feel it should be, we will be calling [McCready] as a witness," Emery said.
"The point is whether he was damaged by the allegations that he used steroids - he claims he was hurt. But if there are other women - and there's not just one case, but many - and he holds himself out as a family man and an American paradigm, it's relevant.

certainly relevant for a civil suit, but i doubt McCready is going to hop on the stand in a criminal trial.
Clemens is screwed as far as civil stuff with McNamee go, but as far as criminal stuff for things with McCready, I think he'll be fine.
