DVD Player Issue

I have been having an issue with my dvd player lately. In the middle of movies it will randomly start fast forwarding or rewinding like it is possessed. It is only about 1-2 years old and does not get a lot of use. The problem just started this week.
Also, may be related, may not, but the eject button stopped working on the player itself, but I can get it to eject by pressing the eject button on the remote.
Any thoughts on what to do? I bought it at Best Buy, it is an LG player. Can I take it somewhere to be repaired? Or am I SOL?

DVD players are so cheap now, your best bet is probably to replace it.

Trash it and buy a new one. Also, buy a surge protector.

It is protected very well by a surge protector.

sit in on the floor. then stand on the bed and jump off and elbow drop it. that generally fixes any problems

So...I have now have it hooked to 2 surge protectors and have elbow dropped it from the top of my bed..and suprisingly it still does not work....So I guess I will take it back to Best Buy...amazingly I bought the service plan and was actually able to find it! Now...how do I explain the fact it is destroyed?
