Wendy's fresh never frozen beef

This is Wendy's new marketing gimmick. Trying to tell you that freezing beef somehow makes it not as good. But that's not the question. The question is, how is this possible? Does Wendy's now slaughter the cows in the back when you order? Are we eating spoiled meat? What gives.

Very good question. Even growing up on a cattle farm as a kid I have no idea what the answer could be.

maybe they come in vacuum-sealed packages, and then thrown in a very cold-temperature fridge, just above freezing.

My brother worked for Wendy's many years ago, and I believe I am correct in saying that this has always been the case, but they are just promoting it more now. The deal is they try to work within as narrow a time frame as possible from slaughterhouse to grill and refrigerate just above freezing.

I could buy that. But I am not sure that is something I'd feel better about than freezing with that whole Salmonella concept.

I believe In and Out burger on the west coast has been doing this for years. The one thing I really like about In and Out is that they cut the potatoes for french fries right before they put them in the friar.

I don't think freezing does anything to protect you from Salmonella. I think it is how the meat is cooked, but I am ignorant on the subject so please correct me if I am wrong.

In N Out Burger is not a national chain in remote locations. And thanks for bringing them up just before lunch. Now I am starving for some of those fries.

That is just wrong. I feel like a flight to LAX just so I can hit that one on Sepulveda right be the terminal.

In N Out is the definition of greatness.

Salmonella comes from uncooked chicken, not beef. E. Coli can be caught from beef, especially ground beef, if it isn't cooked thoroughly. Generally, freezing has no effect on food-borne pathogens, only on how long the food keeps before spoiling.
