Blackberry Apps

I know I'm not the only Blackberry addict on the board. And I am curious what apps the rest of you Crackberry guys consider your favorites.

I am a big fan of Viigo for my RSS feeds. It is so much faster and easier to operate the all of the others I have tried.

Anybody else have issues with Google's apps? Google Maps never seems to want to operate properly for me and even Gmail goes in a holding pattern for long periods of time for me.

Yahoo Mobile is OK but the news feeds are slow and weak. I like the Flickr access though.

You whippersnappers tend to be up much quicker on these types of things than us Old Hags. But I also realize you guys also prefer toys like the iPhone to Blackberrys or Treos.

Come on, I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts.

Oh, one of the guys on Crackberry found a way to download The Weather Network's free app here in the US ...

Type in this link on your Blackberry browser and download:

I like it much better than the Weather Channel's free app.

I just got the HTC Touch and love it. I can understand the addictions. I'll have to check into Viigo.

When you buy your phone, generally you are fortunate if they can import your address book from your old phone and not much more.

But when you go to the browser, hit the 'G' button to surf and then head to the Blackberry home page:

http://mobile.blackberry.com

There you will find lots of cool stuff much of which is free including some rather decent games. Brickbreaker gets pretty boring rather quickly. I downloaded a Tetris-type game called KaGlom! that has been pretty fun.

My work provided a Blackberry with the data package. It’s definitely addicting. I don’t have any great apps other than CNBC, but I did download the Weather Channel app and now so are some of my co-workers. Thanks Sly.

I like the Weather Network (the Canadian version of the Weather Channel) a little better than the weather.com version. It loads more frequently.

I meant the Weather Network, too. It's better.

I can't tell you how much I enjoy Viigo. I get all of Scribe's stories dropped into my Blackberry along with a bunch of other media sources without having to hunt around. When the Google apps are working they are very nice as well.

I have a HP Ipaq smartphone by Tmobile. It's unlocked, and I was using it with a Cingular gophone chip as a telephone - then I would use the free wifi at the hospital or LU. So it was like having a smartphone with internet, only I didn' t have to pay for the internet charges, just the phone. I recently bought a new Cingular card and chip for it, b/c I was going to sell it on Ebay.

It has wifi, so it connects to the internet, it also has a touchscreen, a built in camera, a detachable thumb keyboard, and a SD card slot. My problem is, Tmobile and Cingular don't work very well in the Halifax area. So if any of you are interested in one, I'd be willing to part with it for $89. That's a pretty good deal.

PM me if you want more info.

Google Apps were giving me some issues so I cleaned them off my Blackberry and downloaded the newest version and boy am I glad that I did. My Gmail is working much better and they have added a slew of new apps & features. The Google Maps pinpoints your location using cell towers to within 5k. So far it has been even more accurate than that for me.
