I'm going to be finishing up my BS in Finance in December through DLP and will have to take Business Policy this fall. I've heard a lot of horror stories about the class on campus. Does anybody have any experience with the DLP version of Policy or know somebody who has? If so, how was it and how much time will have to be devoted each week? I'm kinda nervous about it and want to know what to expect. I've been doing DLP the last year or so and I haven't had too much trouble at all. The hardest I've had so far was Corporate Finance. Any help is appreciated...

Sissy. Corporate is way harder than Policy. Policy just takes a lot of time. Never did it DLP but I can't imagine that it would take less time.

Well, I guess I want to know how much time I'm looking at per week. Since the course is packed in over 8 weeks instead of a semester I'm not really optimistic. Corporate took approx. 8 hours a week if I remember correctly.

BP is an easy class. Time consuming, but fun. Take Dr. George, he's a good teacher and I think he's doing the DLP now.

You don't get a choice of professor with DLP. They also don't do the videos anymore so it's all reading and submitting work electronically. Kinda takes the fun out of it without having interaction at all.

That stinks!! I wouldn't learn a thing doing that. I would go through the motions and be done. Policy was cool because you got to do a hands on -real world - project.

I really don't feel like I'm learning as much and I'm definitely going through the motions. I'm taking Organizational Ethics right now and tomorrow is the final day of the class. I have a 95% average right now and we have a 10 page paper due that's worth 20% of the grade. I haven't started and don't have much motivation to do well on it since I've already passed the class regardless...

I felt the same way with the MBA, so I stopped. What a worthless program for business graduates.

At this point, it's all about getting it over with and getting that piece of paper. The GPA isn't really going to be moved too much one way or the other. I really don't feel like I'm getting a good education in business. I'm mainly training myself to do as little as possible to get by at this point. That is interesting considering I'm taking an ethics class...

I'm just glad I don't have to watch hours of videos. I did an accounting class back in 2002 I believe and it was awful. It was actual classroom footage and the students were allowed to ask questions but weren't mic'ed. The professor would give a long, detailed response to a question you never heard asked. At times the replies were rambling and seemed to be to off the wall questions. It was very frustrating.

You are right here. I went out of my way to take George's classes. I went to college to be challenged and it was hard to find that at Liberty:( George was challenging - sad that every class I took had only like 4 students in it, other than policy which was required for a business major/minor.

Dude we smoked those other teams. It wasn't even competitive.

I went to college to get a degree though. I don't care how freaking easy it is. Just something to put on your resume.

That stockprice game is overrated. It's all about knowing what triggers the system.

from what dr. george said, it also has alot to do with what your competition does as well....our class was full of maroons so i guess perhaps it wasn't as hard...we still dominated...

we didn't do much the first couple of times....out price didn't do a whole lot....we then figured out that if these guys were doing this, maybe we shoudl do this....we basically raised our prices and loaded up on EVERYTHING and we sold like hotcakes...

i'm planning on graduating in spring 09, and still have policy and corporate in front of me. the question is, would either one be easier DLP or should i take them both in class?

Let me just say that the DLP classes are not particularly hard. you just gotta put ur head down and do the work. as far as challenging, im not really sure what challenging is. i mean, a bunch of people always drop out or are slackers, so to them it might be challenging, but to me, i dont really think it is.

so i think the challenging definition is kind of relative, but is it a question of us not being challenged because everyone else is wimps, so the made the classes easier, or what? i mean im not sure how you quantitatively measure a challenge. perhaps it should be measured like most everything else in life (fortunately or unfortunately), by how much bling it puts in your bank account.

Well, I just finished my first week's work for Policy via DLP. It took about 6 hours to complete so it wasn't too bad. Unfortunately the instructions were very vague so the result will be up to interpretation. Each assignment is due by 12 noon on Friday each week which I think is ridiculous for a DLP class but oh well. The assignment was 12.5% of my grade so hopefully I did okay! Wish me luck...
