We can put numbers on the back for either in order of the longest members dating back to the old site or by the amount of posts (for example P.A. would be number 1)

well, I'm a big logo fan but we need it to not look like Liberty garb that everybody else has.

What about the new LU logo smaller over the heart, and then something creative in the center of the shirt with flamefans.com

Also, just some history. I joined in November of '04 while Medic was Jan of '05. He just posts the most. But Sly has everybody beat I think with a date of Feb of 04. A fun fact is my registration date was the same date as my first day working here. Any correlation? Yes.

I'll do some photoshop stuff when I'm home. SJ should do some now though because he's way better at it than me.

That shirt would be like $24 each if 6 people ordered them down to $13 if 16 people ordered them. We can still use a local vender like Universal Ts or whoever but that's just an idea.

i remember taling with sly back on the liberty.edu site under the alumni connections area, then ge got the firehouse started and i came over sometime after that. t-shirts are a great idea.....come with something SJ...you are da man.

I actually love that design if the text was different.

I don't know SJ the bird kind of looks like Foghorn LegHorn! Count me in on the T-shirt deal for sure. I am sure you guys will come up with a great design.

That second one is sweet. But does it cause a trademark infringment? We don't want proto getting on us.

For legal reasons, we can't use any of the trademarked logos of the schools. So anything we come up with would have to be original. That's part of the reason our website is named the way it is to avoid overstepping some legal bounds.

Frankly, our masthead was just something we put up so we would have something to work with (anybofy remember the firebreathing dragons?). So consider this an open invitation to se what you can come up with as far as a logo and/or masthead.

Too bad we can't use Tally's second one. I thought it was great!

My understanding is that legally we'd have to be using the logo to 1. make money or to 2. falsely represent the University in a harmful way. We're doing neither so I can't see how using the logo would be a problem.


I only say that as a point of discussion... I'm not advocating Sly doing anything he feels uncomfortable with on the board. Sly's done a great job leading us along the way and I support his judgement.

I made you a logo before the stretched across the entire header but you never got back to me. I'll see if I can find it.

We'd be walking a fine line that could result in a cease & desist order at the administration's whim should we proceed using Proto's design. So I would feel better if we came up with some original.

Besides at some point I'd like us to start doing some things that might help pay for our expenses on here and I wouldn't want to keep that from happening.

If you guys want to post your ideas on here perhaps we can get a general consensus and go with it.

Plus, we're not making money (yet) but whoever is printing them up is. I'm no lawyer so I don't know if that counts or not but it still seems illegal. No other school messageboard can use their logo. Just go to all of the different scout or rivals sites. They have some goofy graphic up in the corner. I like the flames up in the corners of this board though. It looks cool.

I'm with ya Sly... If you plan to make money at all on this site, it's better to stay clear of problems. Besides there is definately enough talent on this board to come up with a pretty sweet logo. With so many ideas about how LU can incorporate the 'flame' idea... I'm sure someone will come up with a great identity.

LUConn, I think there are two seperate discussions... the one about the header is seperate from the one about the shirts. The shirts and header don't have to be the same graphic. In fact, you'd want the shirts as simple as possible (1-2 color max). You have a screen charge (set-up fee) for each color. You also need to keep in mind any dark colors on a dark shirt will need a white under-lay. That's an extra charge so as you guys design these things... try to keep the cost of printing in mind (assuming you want cost to be reasonable). When you're dealing with a relatively low quanity, your set-up charges will impact every shirt. Most screen printing companies will charge $30-40 per color for set up alone. So if you had 2 colors among a group of 20 shirts, you're looking at $4 just for set up fees. That shirt will likely run close to $15-20 easy. Higher quanities or fewer colors will help. If it's a great design it can be done in 1 color and look fantastic.
