A Sea Of Red

So, I'm headed to Orlando on Saturday to go to Disneyworld for the first time. Any of you who are local or have been in the past few years, care to offer some tips regarding the parks, weather, transportation, food, etc...?

Don't go to Epcot, unless you're a weird science geek.

charlies steakhouse - one of the best steaks i've ever had.
ran ghetsu - great sushi
crab house - great AYCE crab bar..

thats all i got for food..

all are on universal..

Sadly, my sister and brother in law both are, so we're going to be spending at least a day there (kill me).

Epcot was always my favorite when I was a kid.

Huge Disneyworld fan here. Go on everything you can. Let me know your score on the Buzzlighyear laser tag ride and I'll let you know how much I beat you by. If you're like me and can't get dizzy or else you'll die, stay away from that ride that goes to mars in Epcot. 2 people have died on that already. Muppets 3D in MGM is awesome if you like that type of thing. But it's not a ride, so if your time is limited you might pass on it.

seriously, you must not have been there in a long time. It is probably one of the greatest places on the face of the earth. And obviously, the happiest.

oh and i can't imagine the financial dissarray that place puts you in if you are to, say, take a family with children there....EGADS...

I hate DisneyWorld...I would choose Universal over Disney any day of the week....

I just talked to my parents last night and they say its cooler these days (high in the upper 50's/low 60's)...but I'm sure that won't last long...there is so much to do in Orlando man...you will never be board, and if you are...there is something wrong with you...

but I still hate DisneyWorld...so my first advice would be to avoid that hell hole

If you go to Magic Kingdom, here are some must rides:

1. Splash Mountain
2. Space Mountain
3. Big Thunder Mountain

However, under no circumstances should you EVER ride Its a Small World. My sister took me on that when I was little, I still hate her for it.

EPCOT:
1. Soarin' Over California
2. Mission: Space
3. Test Track

MGM:
1. Hollywood Tower of Terror
2. Aerosmith's Rock N' Roller Coaster (Lame name, good ride)
3. Backlot Tour

Animal Kingdom:
1. Mt. Everst
and thats it.

If you want to go to a theme park that truly offers a lot of bang for your buck, go to Islands of Adventure.

Aerosmith's ride is very good.

agreed. Although someone died on this one recently as well, but I think it was supposed to be unrelated causes.

I agree with ATrain's synopsis of what to ride although I would add the Haunted Mansion to the list if you go to the Magic Kingdom. I was there with the wife last weekend and my parents will be there this weekend. Christmas is always a fun time to go because Disney decorates up real nice. Epcot at Christmas is cool because all the countries tell the story of how they celebrate Christmas in their countries. The only downfall is it will be very crowded so be prepared for rude tourists.

Yeah that was last summer, while my wife and I were down there on our honeymoon. Actually happened the day after we rode it. A young boy (I think 10) died from heart problems if I remember correctly.

I never had the chance to ride Haunted Mansion...when I went it was "Closed for Repairs"

that would basically take an entire week of being there to do all that

not if you effectively use the line skipping manuver. There's an art to it.

EPCOT is great.

you can EAT at all the different "countries" until you puke

I prefer Germany - the BierGarten style place is fantastic

test track is cool-

otherwise:
the Aerosmith ride kicks az as well.

didn't like the Animal Kingdom thing as much, but the boy LOVED it

Stay far away from Disneyworld and go to Island of Adventure...that is if you enjoy big boy rides...
