honkers were out in full flight yesterday

2's our limit. got these in the morning (3 of us) in an hour.

we went back out at noon and they were still flying...

nabbed 6 more geese and some canvasbacks....

you oughta trade recipes w/ my wife.

she doesn't like duck ("too greasy") but is great w/ vension

had some in the crock pot the other nite- meat falling off the bone.

very very good.

i've never found it much more greasy than venison...

i had goose chili simmering all day yesterday.... a big ole tub of it in the fridge right now.....

the thing is- I never liked venison before.

its all in how you cure/prepare it, I guess.

when she makes it- it doesn't taste all "gamey"

(if you know what I mean)

yeah, duck and deer are a light gamyness to me....goose is the gamiest. my wife doesn't like it that gamy so i soak the breasts in milk over night.

I was about to ask what you soaked your kill in overnight when you answered with milk. I used to use Italian or Ranch dressing from time to time in addition to milk.

he'll be trapping gophers and rabbits in his yard to experiment with some new bastes, and cutting limbs from his trees to see what kind of flavor they add to the smoker.

unless they make hunting cattle legal or my wife lets me raise them i don't think it will ever be 100%

i'm sitting here dying because 2 weeks ago i was at my parents house cutting limbs off of their pear, apple, and almond trees....
