does anyone have an old cingular phone that they aren't using? my g/f broke hers and it will cost 200 to get a new one b/c she's in a contract. she is driving home and needs a phone for the ride home, so if anyone has an old phone they don't need here in the burg that would be awesome

she got a new phone for renewing a contract? Alltel hates me. They never give me anything for free.

she got a krazr(sp?) for $50 bucks for renewing, and she was barely even in the contract.

same here, they never give current customers any deals....it blows.

They gave here a KRazr. I wouldn't call that a deal.

whatever, Alltel threw me a turdball Kyocera for free for signing up and this wasn't like prerazr. In a perfect world, carriers would focus on customer retention and give them the free stuff for loyalty. Now I've got to switch to some inferior carrier to get a decent phone. I blame this on Eve and women in general.

I have Alltel because I have no choice, but I've been impressed with their coverage in the Southeast US, not to mention they're still the only carrier here that offers high-speed data service. Their phone selection is usually pretty awful, though. They get phones designed for Verizon about a year after Verizon gets them.
I had a second T-Mobile phone at one point. I loved it and I loved their customer service. However, if I left city limits their (slow) data coverage disappeared. That may not be the case now, but that's how it was then. I believe AT&T and T-Mobile share a network in Lynchburg.
My wife had a contract with Sprint for a while. Eh.

Oh I think their coverage is 2nd to none in the area. That's why I'm still with them for the time being. I just wish they would throw me a freebie every once in a while.

I actually talked to the manager of the Timberlake store about that one time. I've got the
Samsung Wafer. Alltel was the first to release this phone. It was one of the few phones that they had released before anyone else, and there was a lot of problems with it. They said the reason they don't offer phones right off the bat a lot of times is because they like to wait until the 2nd or 3rd generation model comes out and all of the kinks have been worked out. This phone is one of the two phones I've ever had problems with from Alltel, and both were first generation phones (I've had 6 or 7 phones).

My Verizon data services and tether both worked in Lynchburg back in October with no extra charges. Does Verizon not market itself in Virginia?

Verizon doesn't even have towers in Lynchburg.

Alltel is the CDMA carrier in our area. I think they may have some kind of non-compete clause in their infrastructure sharing contract with Verizon, because they've never been here.
