...and that means HMO gets to see his favorite weather girl in 1080i.
The big debut finally happened. Wednesday, WSLS was the first television station in the Roanoke/Lynchburg market to air a half hour, local newscast in high definition. Starting with its noon newscast, all newscasts will now be high def.
Nice! Only seven years after my local CBS affiliate back home.
I kid. Congrats to them. Anyone helping to usher in the digital age to this area is okay with me.

Larger markets have more money to upgrade equipment. I joked about my CBS affiliate back home (WRAL in Raleigh) because they broadcast the first HD signal in the country back in 2000. I'm sure there are plenty of stations that haven't dug up the funds to pay all of the costs associated with going HD.
Where are all of our TV experts on the board? Surely they've got better input than me.

Speaking of which...does anyone (Scorcho? HMO?) know when WTLU is supposed to go digital (not necessarily HD) on Channel 43?

Some channels are HD but not all newscasts are HD. Cast in point, the DC area. I think only 1 of the 4 DC channels broadcasts news in HD.

I'd guess around 23:55 on February 16, 2009.

You are correct. right now only WUSA CBS 9 is in HD. The others are real close from the commercials they are airing.

I don't know how WRAL has managed to keep Suiter for so long. He must just love the area. It's certainly a busy place to be for a sportscaster. He's the best, though, for sure.
Ahhh. Now I'm missing home!
