I think that's a book by Michael Savage.... anyway, here's the proof I guess:
Republicans Report Much Better Mental Health Than Others

by Frank Newport
Page:123

PRINCETON, NJ -- Republicans are significantly more likely than Democrats or independents to rate their mental health as excellent, according to data from the last four November Gallup Health and Healthcare polls. Fifty-eight percent of Republicans report having excellent mental health, compared to 43% of independents and 38% of Democrats. This relationship between party identification and reports of excellent mental health persists even within categories of income, age, gender, church attendance, and education.

The basic data -- based on an aggregated sample of more than 4,000 interviews conducted since 2004 -- are straightforward.

Crazy people don't know that they're crazy, so I'm not sure exactly what this survey proves.

I would agree with this statement, but only on a technicality. "Crazy" is a term which refers primarily to behavior, not to a disorder. People who have mental disorders are "crazy" when they are not receiving effective treatment, and in those cases they often have a distorted view of reality and are not aware of their illness or deny it.

I work every day with people who have serious mental disorders which are being treated. For the most part they are aware of their illness, and in many cases very knowledgible about it. As a group, they tend to lean to the left politically because liberal politicians are perceived as and presented as more sympathetic toward the needs of the disabled.

My only thing is that I sometimes feel some try to act liberal in order to appear intelligent.....that might not make sense...
