How about giving out "Board Awards". Having voting from the members and seeing what everyone thinks of everyone else.

Think this would be a good idea? Keep in mind it would be for fun, and we could use all of the creative input we could get...

Such as, a name for the awards, award categories, etc.

But for those of you who don't catch my drift, here is an example.

Someone says, i think we should have a category for best poster

So then we nominate people who are good posters

and then vote

and then the winner receives an award.


Anyone like the idea? Or have any other thoughts on how to make this work, or idea for names or anything...

We've thrown this idea around forever and just never done them. My suggestions:

[all awards are based on 2007 calendar year]

Rookie of the Year (best new poster in year 2007)
The AG Award (poster who doesn't show up anymore who did in 2006, and parts of 2007)
Most likely to GMTM (GMTM is excluded from this)
Thread of the Year

Rocketfan and I discussed this with each other at work last week. We decided that most of them would be offensive to the recipient and many people can't take a joke. Also, it couldn't be voting. It would just have to be one or two people just making arbitrary decisions.

Alright, well if the two loud fat guys want to do it, we are doing it... I will start a new thread for nominations once we get some more ideas for Names of the Awards, and categories...

(Maybe Call them Sly's?)

I heard about LUconn and RocketFan's ideas and they're hilarious.


I think if we had general ones we could have voting.

By the way, we can't call them Sly's. We don't want his head getting any bigger.

Poster of the Year
Best New Poster
Funniest Poster
Most Informative
Best Thread
Best Post
Best Avatar
Best Signature
Best Username
Best Use of Emoticons
Best Predictor

and then have a small group to make decisions on some 'Special Awards"

Those awards and winners would have to be determined by the group.

The thread of the year is the COUPLES THREAD...hands down. Now...if we could just get Supe to class...

The missing poster would have to go to LUREAL...NickRichard has been gone for a while, too.

Best new poster...I would say HernyGale...but he joined in Dec 06. We'd need nominations.

We just have to make sure we keep it concise. We don't need it to be like Little League where everyone gets a prize.

The Sandinvag Award - the most negative on the board

Female poster of the year (bonus points if she includes a nice looking photo of herself)....maybe we could even crown the king and queen of the message board for the year. If they are caught drugging it up and partying, they could lose their crown(s).

Best thread of the year

Also we could make some awards like sports do:

Top posts per day average for 2007(ppda)
Flamefans member with the most replies for 2007 (two awards: single thread and all threads combined)
If you can measure time, the flamefans member who has spent the most minutes logged onto this board
Best tag team posters (two members who seem to work together to knock other arguments down...think shortstop and second base)

Those are the few that come to the top of my mind. Take one or two, or all if you like. This sounds like it may be fun!
