A Sea Of Red

Anybody hit the stores before daylight this morning? Kohls opened at 4:00 a.m., and other retail stores opened at 5:00 or 6:00 a.m. According to the local news in Lynchburg, some people even camped out in front of Best Buy last night.

I got to Target at 5:55 a.m. and bought season 5 of 24 for only $14.95.

Not a chance...

I worked retail for almost 10 years, and worked every Black Friday. When I left Lowe's seven years ago, I swore I'd never leave the house to shop on Black Friday. So far, so good.

THIS year, I did have to work. Took me 4 hours, met the family for lunch, and I was back home.

I had to work today but was fortunate enough that Best Buy was offering online the Logitech MM50 speaker System for IPod for $59.99, a $90 savings. I have had my eye on this but the $150 price tag was to much. I tried shopping after work but the parking lots were too craxy

i've basically been able to get all the same in-store deals over the internet, and in all cases free shipping but still have to pay tax - i've even been asble to find deals on internet only shops that were much better than equivalent deals at the brick and mortat stores website. so i get the product (and there would eb more stock on the internet than in the store), don't have to deal with the crowds, and get it at the exact same price. for example, i got two computers game that retail for $50 each for only $24.99 on best buy's website. if i had tried to get it in the store, where there was a limit on 8 TOTAL copies of this game at the price for each store, I likely would not have been able to get them. so i have to say I came out way ahead here lol. ah the beauty of the internet

Had to work today so I stopped by Target at 715 and the line to checkout was almost to the back of the store. As much as I thought the Office was a great deal at $14.99 - it wasn't worth the wait. Walked into Walmart at 830 got Madden 08 for 19.98 and check out with no wait.

I have to agree. Almost all of the retailers had their sales online. I did all of my shopping in my PJ's this morning. Not worth fighting the crowds for the few deals that weren't online.

I was able to find one of the Circuit City doorbusters on line on Thursday for one of my nieces...

i dont know what the prices are like on those things, but i do believe that's a bargain $$$. i almost ended up buying a logitech webcam that retails for $120 for only 24.99 (I believe that is on tigerdirect.com). i then realized i have no idea what in the world i'd ever use it for, so i didn't buy it.

She's moving from Michigan to Atlanta after the first of the year so she'll need it.

I invested in maintaining a clean criminal record by not shopping. If I had gone, I'm pretty sure I would have assualt-and-batteried someone...

I picked up a gps online. Other than a new laptop which I couldn't find a steal for (I didn't browse until 10:30 and the best laptops were sold out) I wasn't really looking for anything. I think they will run some good deals on monday and I get a 15% off on top of anything if I buy through dell at work, so I probably will do that.

I got up early and spent about an hour making my pre-planned Black Friday purchases. I arrived at Target at around 6:00 to pick up the first two seasons of The Office ($9.98 and $14.98 respectively) and some toilet paper. The crowd was horrendous and my heels were run into two or three times by the same shopping cart without so much as an "excuse me" from the driver. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes and immediately headed for Best Buy, which had opened at 5 a.m. I stood in line outside for 15 or 20 minutes before being allowed into the store. Thankfully, they still had plenty of the HD Upconvert DVD player with Divx/MPEG playback ($49.99) and 4 GB SDHC card ($27.99) that I went in for. I grabbed the stuff, got in line for the checkout line, then got in the checkout line, paid and I was off to Old Navy to pick up a pair of half-price jeans. Decent crowd there, but no lines to speak of. All in all, a productive Black Friday morning, even if I didn't buy anything for anyone else.

McMac, if you were shopping in Lynchburg, we were probably shopping on the same isle at the same time, where I was getting my season 5 of 24.

I had childcare duties for three little ones while Mrs. Sly spent a good chunk of the day taking care of Christmas. She wouldn't let me see the bags so I have no idea what she pulled.

That's funny. I thought about picking up 24 for my parents, but I didn't think about it in the midst of the hubbub and my mom has this thing about obtaining the seasons sequentially. I'll probably regret it later, but if anyone sees a super deal on Season One, please point me in that direction!

I didn't leave the house to go shopping, did go out to eat tonight though! I didn't need to waste money on anything, but everything I would have been interested in I have seen online. Also of interest, most stores are pushing "cyber Monday", which is basically black friday online this monday. some great deals to be had there too if you missed out today

I was in the midst of the madness. My hotel is walking distance from the Gallery Mall in downtown Philly. Bought a winter coat. Leather. I wore it out of the store. MRS SCAR put my winter coat and other sweaters in the storage bin...in the back so I had to buy a coat. YEsterday I finally found one I liked. Good day...Spent Friday night at King of Prussia Mall with MRS SCAR and one of my many nieces (she is a year younger than me). We had a great time. Wanted to buy a camera since I always get clowned at the tailgate for the size and age of my digital. I am thinking of getting a Canon Powershot but didn't pull the trigger. Another one of my adult nieces and her husband have a Powershot. I may just get the exact one they have or the latest version of that one. Black Saturday anyone?

I bought a cheap Sirius receiver off of Buy.com. It was $43 after shipping. It also has a $50 mail in rebate so they are going to pay me $7 to take the thing. I've been looking at getting Sirius for a while anyway so I figured I should do it now.

I don't know which one they have, but I highly recommend the SD1000. It's lightweight, compact (about the size of a deck of cards), takes great pictures, pretty good video and supports the use of the new SDHC media, so you can take a lot of pictures and video. It runs around $250.00 normally.

I've had 5 digital cameras (yes I have a problem) and the SD1000 is the best I've ever owned by FAR...it's sick (I dont leave home without it in my pocket, and it's the right size so you dont even know its there). The MP is perfect for the avg user (who isnt going to blow up poster size pics)

All in all the best for the $$$

We just bought a Sony dvd camcorder and got $50 back on that. Bought a vacuum for mil for a good price. Went to Target for perscriptions for my son as the cats at Thanksgiving sent him into a wheezing attack - he as at the dr now. Shrek 3 was really cheap but other than that nothing great or special that we were looking for. I love the crowds, but my hubby wants to go to a store when no one else is around.

circuitcity.com currently has the SD1000 for 149.99

That's tempting because I want a pocket camera to complement my long zoom prosumer (Panasonic FZ8), but I really want something waterproof, which is going to set me back a bit more.

My hubby wants a digital - which one is best?
