A Sea Of Red

So, picture this. You're headed to the grandparents for thanksgiving and realize that you're empty-handed and didn't bring anything. You swerve in to the local grocery store/bakery and head for the cake/pie section...


...what do you grab as your favorite after-thanksgiving snack?

For me--it is now and will forever be, the Boston Creme Pie. God bless the man that decided to put chocolate frosting, vanilla pudding (or whatever that mystery goodness is) with cake together.

I swear, if anyone mentions fruit cake, I'll shut this baby down. Bring out the goods.

As much Boston Creme Pie, I have to go with buttermilk. But its getting tougher to find.

Pecan, blueberry and crumb topping apple all are worthy choices as well.

I have to agree with Fumble: if it's a cold pie, I have to say chocolate, but for hot pies with ice cream, I do love apple and blueberry. For room temperature pies, I also like pecan and coconut. I know Boston Creme Pie is called pie, but my mind thinks of that more as a cake, and I'm a big fan of that desert, as well.

Cherry, Pecan, Apple, Blueberry, Pumpkin, etc. It's all good. I love pie. Even the "chicken pot" variety. Deep dish, crumb, etc. All good. Pie is on my short list of favorite things.

Best pies in Lynchburg:

Chestnut Hill Bakery (next to Waffle House)--good variety at a cheap price.

Bob Evans--expensive, but you can get a whole pie to go. Recommend the chocolate one below.

oh yeah, i like hot blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream on top.

chocolate is good also, i love cheesecake. about any way you make it i like it

Pumpkin Pie, Cheesecake or the best of both worlds: Pumpkin Cheesecake.

Pumpkin pie, served cold with cool whip and a cup of hot coffee. The pie should be baked in a GLASS pie pan with either a made from scratch or Pillsbury refrigerated crust, using packed pumpkin (not "mix") and the Libby's pumpkin recipe with minor "adjustments" to spices.

I make about a dozen of these every Thanksgiving/Christmas for family and friends. Not to brag, but I have "converted" a couple of my co-workers to pumpkin pie lovers.

Yes, it is manly to bake from the women's perspective. I love pumpkin or French Silk.

Any sweet bread with nuts in it (banana, zuchini, etc.) will melt in my mouth; especially with a little cream cheese.

as long as it is just cake and frosting (no fruit) i'll eat it. oh and no german chocolate, i hate coconut
