Anyone have one of the plug-in units (Tom-Tom, Garmin, Magellan)?

I am considering asking for one for Christmas and would like some feedback. Price range would be UNDER $300.

Call me old fashioned, but I'm still a big fan of the Rand McNally road atlas. Study

The cool thing is now you can have GPS, mp3 player & phone all in one. And its about to get even cooler.

Technology is a great thing, CJ. Embrace the dark side of the brain.

I've had about 4-5 GPS units...I couldnt imagine not having one...I've had a few plug in units like you talked about, mine was a Garmin 7010? something like that color touch screen....I had that before the got really popular and it was pretty expensive....I liked that so much I got the Pioneer GPS AVIC-n2 which is also a dvd player and such....I even have GPS on my mountain bike...that's pretty tight...it tells you how far you've climbed or gone down...where you've been and then you take it to your computer and it will summarize your work out

ANYWAYS...yes there is no doubt you should get one...honestly it doesnt even matter which one, there are differences although in general the technology is the same...if I was you I'd go to http://www.zdnet.com and read the reviews and find the one that they rated the top...theres no doubt everyone should give them a try

My research has me down to two:
Garmin StreetPilot C340
Garmin nuvi 260

I have no need for an MP3 player (I enjoy my XM)...but want the text to talk feature.

GPS units make me feel boring because I rarely travel anywhere I don't already know how to get to.

Actually, all my posts are done by my secretary. She reads the threads to me and then transcribes my oral responses.

I probably need one when I get certified. Some of the places they send us are in the middle of nowhere.
