Christmas season (or the advertising/sales part) has been starting on 11/1 for a while now. I wish I knew how Thanksgiving lost the power to stave it off...
The retailers wanted the 3 weeks to create a big buzz leading up to Black Friday...
...and once the Halloween displays were down...they needed to replace them with Christmas.
