I hate Comcast

One of the reasons I got a DVR was so that I could tape games and then take the video from the DVR to my computer. I went out and got the firewire cables and everything today, hooked it up, and it didn't work. I called Comcast, and they said that the firewire connections on the DVRs weren't activated right now. What the heck? Why not? That's just stupid. Needless to say, I'm not happy.

same here, and their cable internet is horrible too. every time it storms i pray the electricity doesn't go out, because even if it goes out for just .5 seconds my internet wont work for numerous hours. of course, whenever you call them about it they give you a bunch of reasons why it doesn't work - which are all fallacious because i've done experiments to test their excuses - so i just have to wait until whenever the internet decides its going to work again. sure the internet is good when it works and works well (and that seems to be pretty hit and mss anymore)...

yeah...though most of the time if I just unplug the modem and then plug it back in it normally starts working again...their customer service skills aren't very good to say the least

Comcast is in a lot of hot water right now for messing with Internet traffic on their network. Congress is going to hold hearings about it. I'm praying the end up in some sort of trouble over it. Common carrier rules should apply to all ISP's at all levels.

Hey -- Comcast has nothing on AT&T. Have you seen this (link at the end)?

This couple has to flee from the California Wildfires, and there house winds up burning down. They go to call AT&T to get their service cancelled, and AT&T asks them to return their satellite receiver. Now, their house is burned to the ground. Literally, you can't even see that a house stood on the grounds... and when the woman tells AT&T that she didn't think to bring along her satellite receiver as she fled in terror... AT&T tells her that she owes them $300.

Yes, I saw it. AT&T should have used more tact, but they're right. It's still their responsibility. Their homeowners insurance should take care of it, though.

once again i hate comcast too...went over to watch a wrestling ppv at a friends house and he went to order it and it said to call a number, he calls the number and says their computers are screwed up and can't get into accounts to let people order ppv's...they said to call back in a half hour (at 7:50, the ppv started at 8)...we did, no luck...and then by the time we go to the point where we were going to try at someone else's house who had direct tv most of the guys backed out and didn't want to bother with it...

comcast sucks

Comcast is no better in Houston. I've heard rumors that our neighborhood is getting a fiber drop from AT&T soon and if that is the case, Adios Comcast.

Next time just remind me to record the game and I'll give it to you in MPEG2 format after I get home.

I can get the footage later this week, that's no problem. I just wanted to be able to have it today since, with the prank, the site will likely be getting a lot of hits and I wanted to have as much content as possible ready.

Is the MPEG2 format from your service provider DVR, Tivo player, or do you have your own computer based DVR?

I agree, Comcast sucks on many levels (when are they going to let me pay my bill online like every other biller?), but I rarely have a problem with my internet service. I've had to exchange quite a few DVR units, but the one I have now has been working fine for months. In my experience, their service sucks a lot more than their product, although they could offer more variety. Sorry to hear you guys have so much trouble with the internet service. I'd be ticked too.

I hate comcast, I've had a lot of trouble with their internet that didn't involve the power going out. However, I've never had problems using DVR though

I moved into my house with my wife in July......we get comcast to come out here and hook everything up

a month later we get a $400 bill for PPV movies from 2005-2007........they had us under the former tenants and were about to contact credit collectors

I had to bring my lease and threatened them with a defemation claim that would have paid my bills for a good year.

All in all, I hate the fact that the kids of Adelphia ruined their corporation and now we are having to deal with Comcast, unless you can get satellite

If it wasn't for my neighbor's tree, I would have DirecTV. So, I'm stuck with Comcast. Their DVRs are the worst. Sometimes, they stop recording in the middle of a show. Also, my ESPN & ESPN2 HD channels went out for a week. They said I was not authorized.....once I showed them my account, & that I had been authorized for 3 months, they changed their tune. Then they said it was on my end.......nope, I said, others had the same problem...I told them to notify the "Powers-That-Be" to fix it on their end or I was canceling my service. All channels work fine now.

I hate them as well for raising my internet connection $7 more per month.

I'll have to check again, maybe they're caught up with the changeover. Last time I checked (recently), I was told this service wasn't available in my area yet. The local staff was as knowledgeable as ever when I asked when it it would become available.
