Liberty Myths

Here's a place to post myths about Liberty.
1. Flames not a flock of eagles.
Here are two things I've heard during my four years at Liberty, never knew if they were true or not:
- Liberty was once ranked number 3 for hottest girls by Playboy.
- A Liberty student was on the Real World and throughout the show did a good job representing Christ, but during one of the last shows got drunk and had sex with someone on camera and never had the guts to show back up to Liberty.
Anyone know if these are true?

Seriously though, I think most of us have heard about the playboy ranking, not sure if true or not though. Never heard about the real world thing.
There are definitely alot of myths around here.

Aside from the playboy thing, this is the one I heard most often:
The foundation of DeMoss can't support the top two floors, which is why they're never used.

Probably a myth at all colleges, but...if your roommate were to die, you get a 4.0

Never heard that before.
Heard millions of reasons about top floors of DeMoss, but foundation myth is always the most prevalent.

The Playboy myth. This thing goes around every college campus. I've had several friends brag to me that there school was ranked such and such on a Playboy list back in the day. I remember hearing this when I went to CFAW in '98.

judging from my personal observations, there is a very good possiblilty that this is true.
i know that this year we've rated the 'talent' at W&M and Elon, and W&M got about a D- and Elon we said was close to LU but not quite there yet

I doubt the Playboy thing was true, but we've got some of the best looking girls anywhere. Our old friend Libertine once told me a story of one of the software guys coming into the FOC to check in and make sure everything was working and he goes, "I go to eight schools a week and dang..."

Most definitely not true. If the foundation couldn't support the top two floors, it would already have collapsed by now. That just doesn't even make sense.
It's been explained numerous times on this board already. For the sake of those who don't know, the only reason the top two floors aren't used is because we acquired Campus North in the midst of fund raising to complete them. That brought an immediate relief to the need for more space while allowing us to renovate at less than half the price of new construction. Keep in mind that this was only in 2003 and the renovations at Campus North aren't even complete yet. The top two floors will be completed, in due time. There's no reason to rush it. That building has suffered from enough hasty construction already. It's just a matter of acquiring funds, which seems to be a little more easy these days.

I don't know about The Real World, but former LU Student Heidi Mueller was on the reality show "Who Wants to Marry My Dad?" and transitioned it to a role on the soap opera "Passions". I thought the entire thing was hilarious, as was she. Not in a good way.

LU has had several Reality show participants:
1. J. Cox was on the Bachelorette
2. Some dude was on one of the Survivors.
3. Some chick was on one of the Tough Enough shows (MTV wrestling show.)
*I remember hearing about a girl who was a BYU student on a Real World from the late 90's who ended up not going back to BYU after the show aired.

I definitely sat beside the "tough enough" chick in youth 201 my freshman year. If I remember correctly though, she stopped coming like halfway through the semester.

We heard the Playboy rumors when I was in school in the '80s. Allegedly it was dropped in at the tail end of the list with a joke about it being a shame that they were all covered up.

No real world Liberty students - I know for sure. I do not know about the other stuff but know that I was not in PlayBoy so that is a myth.

That's pretty pathetic that we can only muster a #3 ranking in our own myth.
