Please stop it.

Dear 90.9,

please stop playing Jonah 33 - Scream. It is probably in the top 5 of the worst songs I've ever heard. Not only is it completely horrible, if I didn't know better it would make me think I should strap a bomb to myself to further our cause. Probably not the best thing to be broadcasting to all of Lynchburg.

Jonah 33 lyrics or Osama Bin Laden theme song? You decide.

Scream at the top of ya lungs
if you're ready to die tonight
to die tonight for what you believe.
What's going on?
Where have all our voices gone
and why are we afraid of words like war?
Need I remind you
that we are an army and armies in cages
Armies engage when the threat
is too much to ignore.
Sounds like we should sound the alarm.
Scream at the top of ya lungs
if you're ready to die tonight
to die tonight for what you believe.
Time isn't on our side-
and we're on our side,
it never has been a friend of mine.
So Scream with me
if you're ready to die tonight
for what it is you believe you believe.
Don't look now but some how our worst enemies
have found a way inside these walls remade.
These are the moments the define us
as cowards or men full of ___ so shut up and fight
and don't let them know you're afraid.

And just think they wouldn't let us play Amy Grant's "love will find a way" in 1988 when I was a DJ there.
WOW!

Jonathan Falwell mentioned how we are in a "war" at TRBC a couple weeks ago...of course he was talking about spiritual warfare...but he didn't clarify that...I guess Victory FM should stop airing those services too...

I get what you're saying to a point...but it seems you're just out to start something on a board where its easy tp trash on something

More Power To Ya & The Colouring Song were rather subversive.

Sly, do I remember correctly that someone played a Boston song late night and got whacked?

This could be an urban legend...but was there a DJ back in the day that got kicked out of Liberty for airing an interview he had with Micheal Jackson late at night?

There were some people caught airing things they shouldn't. But the only ones I remember getting completely whacked were Frank, Chris & Mike.

I can't imagine anyone getting kicked out of LU for airing an interview with Michael Jackson. I'm calling urban legend on that one.

I figured...I never believed it...but I thought since you guys were bringing up oldtime radio stories I would ask....why did the guys you mentioned get whacked?? was it for anything that serious?

It was that serious and we've rehashed the stories a zillion times in the Old Folks Home. Many of us were there and knew everyone involved.

I was actually just joking about the lyrics but the song is seriously terrible. I don't expect you to stop playing it because LUconn requested it on a messageboard, but it was a slow day so I thought I'd let everybody know what I think of it. It's monumentally bad. If you did destroy that CD it would make me happy.

And cease and desist with the Family Force 5, as well.

Thanks :-)

i agree about that scream song... the first time i heard it i was like.. what?
and even if they changed the words it would be terrible. with all the music out there why do they keep playing that crap?
can they not find some decent bands who can sing?

Yes, you're missing the point that the song mentioned above really, really sucks and should never be played on any radio station ever again, unless your goal is to get people to switch the station.

Here is an in depth explanation

Jonah 33...some of you guys don't like it...some of you don't like the lyrics...some people don't like certain campus pastors...but we do get requests for this song and its currently in the top 30 for Christian rock...i know some of you guys want to change the channel simply because you don't like a song, every radio station in the country is like that...you aren't going to like every song...its the way it is.

Rap...we actually don't play a ton of rap, there are a total of 9 rap songs in the rotation right now, that is out of 120 songs. I am not the biggest rap fan out there, but there are those who are within the target audience that love it, and DJ PDogg's show is one of the most listened to shows we have.

you can name any artist that you don't like I can explain to you why we play them, but the point is not every song is going to appeal to everybody. I have actually worked hard to make our format into something that doesn't cater too much to one style.

the Jonah 33 song has been in the rotation for a while and chances are 3 weeks from now it will hardly be on...I am sorry you don't like it, but I really do hope that you at least like most of the music. If not, I'm sorry...

Thats all I am going to say about this, if you want to hear something or don't like something you can always e-mail us or call us. Its no problem.

Some of the info is in this thread.

I'll let some of the others on here who were privy to the broadcast share their thoughts before I step in. Suffice it to say that the guys stepped WAY over the line. As Dr. Windsor about "Chris & Frank" and watch his head implode. Pick would be even funnier if he had not retired.
